I am looking at 2 different fan controllers.

I have 2 LED 120mm fans and 1 80mm fan on the side. Possiblly adding another 80 later.

Anyone have experience with either of these and would either of them support 120mm fans? I really am leaning towards the Xblade one from amamax personally. I like the functions on the Xblade compared to the fan master superflower.

The xblade is a quality unit, the knob doesnt protrude too far so it should fit behind most doors, simple with one knob. has some other nice info on the screen and doesnt "look" like a controller, could easily be mistaken for some audio gadget.
 
Definitely. However you may need 3-4 pin adapters.

However, realize how a fan controller works. As you lower the knob, the voltage is cut from the line, thus slowing the speed of the fan. Since you have LED fans, this also means your LEDs will become dim as you lower the speed of the fan.

Lowering the RPM of the fan = Less Voltage to the fan = Lower RPMs, and LEDs becoming dim . . . and POSIBLLY flashing.

Just a heads up.
 
Yeah I figured the LED's would dim and if they dim to much I just might buy a cold cathode then.

But I still would like to know which one would you guys of the two would pick.

I don't mean to intrude on your choices, but may I recommend a Zalman fan controller (the 5.25" one). Personally, I used it and I think its just what the doctor ordered. I use 2 120mm fans, one with LED's, a Zalman slimfan (80mm), and an LED 80mm fan. The only flashing I receive is on the fan controller itself. Its barely noticable. You have a choice to use 4 3pin connectors, or you can use 2 12/5volt mods. Its a very reliable controller so far.

Anyways, i'd go with the Superflower if you really wanted to stick to the choices you've made. It looks a lot more reliable.

I have looked at the zalman, but, I like the lcd information from these 2.

I am building two new machines this weekend and we are installing Cooler Master Aerogate 3s in both of them. Maybe you should look at these as well. I will report back here what our thoughts are once we install them and tinker a bit.

On a related note--and I will start a separate thread or a worklog on this--I also am thinking of putting a fancy 5.25 fan controller on the side of my case--the window side. My machine sits on the desktop to my right. I think it would be cool to be able to monitor temps and quick reach over and tweak fan settings w/o having to open door. Mostly just for looks, though. :cool:
