Hi all, my first post here. I have a Q6600 on a xfx 680i LT board with the Thermaltake V1 cooler. I'm currently controlling my fans with an Aerocool Easywatch fan controller and initially, it kept everything cool, but now it is not maximizing the cpu fan. The fan is rated from 1300 - 2300. It runs it steady at 1300. I tried disconnecting the pot controller that was included with the V1, and now it's a steady 900. Should I just use my motherboard? This controller is just auto, no manual control on it. Just wondering if it's junk or what. It was pretty cheap. Whaddya think?
 
sounds like junk to me. hook it up to the motherboard and see if it works right. if not maybe the fan is bad.
 
The only way to know if the pot is bad is to hook it up to a voltmeter, measure the pot at both ends. First question is, will the motherboard increase power to the fan under load?

Enough with my ramblings, i would simplly say that if you want full control, put it on a fan controller (20W per cahnnel on lets say a 4 channel controller would be more than enough for the CPU cooler and then some). I would put the fan on a 12v rail and controller it from a fan controller keeping an eye on the temps to know where you need it on idle and where you need it under load.
