Fan controllers that go inside the case??? Do they work?

Every so often I read in one of the forums about a fan controller that goes inside the case instead of being mounted in a drive bay. This appeals to me because I'm getting either an 800D or 700D and I want to maintain the "smooth" appearance of the front panel.

Does anyone use one of these controllers? Do they work as advertized? These controllers are supposed to come with software that you use to control the fan speed settings on the controller? Does the software work well? Does it work under Windows 7?

If anyone with one of htese controllers is also using Linux, what happens if you boot into Linux and the fan control software doesn't run under Linux?

Thanks in advance.

First I've heard of controllers like that, sounds cool though.

I'm also in the market for a fan controller because my high flow fans are burning out channels on a Scythe Kazemaster. I would be interested in who builds their unit with the beefiest circuitry to take the high draw components [H] members tend to use.

they are inline controllers, either static or variable

nothing fancy and no frills

EDIT: Theres also the Mcube controllers which are the ones you're talking about I believe, the software is buggy under windows but optional I believe and are pricey
