Fan controller

Im currently using the vantec tornado 80mm fan on my slk800, its LOUD!! so i want to use a fan controller to alternate it fast and slow. I have a volcano 11's fan controller, how would i hook it up into the tornado fan????

Um... plug it in? That usually works for attaching fans to fan controllers.

You may need a 3pin to 4pin adapter, but thats easy to find and comes with most fans.

The tornado fan doesnt have a hook up on it for the fan controller?, so its not stupid question, cause i need to cut wires or something, someone smart help me

How do your other fans hook up to your fan controller? ALL fan controllers that are mainstream only let you hook up fans to the contoller through a 3pin or 4pin power connection. What type of connections does your controller have? What kind does your tornado have? What fan controller do you have?

Umm... well, how many pins are coming out of the tornado? Your possibilites are 2, 3, or 4. If 2, then your really dumb. If 3, then you need an adapter (2 to 3 pin, can be found anywhere) or just pop the pins out and put it in a 2 pin plug (not all that hard). 2 pin plugs can be found off many things, including old case LEDs, switch, or fans. if 4, aka molex, then get a molex to 2 pin adapter, or if you don't mind getting your hands dirty (doubtful from how you sound) just cut the wires and solder on a 2 pin plug. any of these plugs can be found at your local frys or electronic specialty shop. Radio Shack probably won't cut it (so to speak).

you do know that your tornado take alot of Voltage right and a regular fan contoller wont provide enoughf power to even get full potential of 84cfm or what ever it pushes, if you want to get full potential you got to get that vantec nexus thing that supports 18v or something like that per chan, then simply cut your molex connector off of the tornado then attatch a 3 pin connector to it and plug it in, if your planning on using a regular fan controller and a tornado, no point just get a regular fan cause its not going to push out enough v for fan to work at full potential

I have nexus it works great, have tornado and then some other case fans hooked up to it.

And it looks awesome.

Umm... your comp only outputs 12V, so the nexus only supports 12V, not 18V. I think the nexus has a higher current tolerance, so you can run those high wattage fans (tornados, 120mms etc) without burning out the controller. Doesn't anyone remember their high school physics anymore???
