Fan controller suggestions

I've been looking at some fan controllers and narrow down my choices to a few, but you're more than welcome to suggest me others (I prefer with a LCD display readout)
Anyway I'm looking at the Lamptron FC5-V2 and Scythe Kaze Master Ace/Pro. Is the Lamptron worth the money compare to the Scythe counterpart?
The cheapest I can find for the FC5 V2 is $57 on Ebay while the Scythe is about $40 or so.
I'm gonna use this controller to drive 5 Gentle Typhoon AP-15 in a Corsair 700D, 3 on top for exhaust and 2 on the Corsair H70. I know the FC5-V2 can only control up to 4 fans but I can get away with that.
I also look at the Lamptron Touch but I've heard it has some problems and I'm not sure if the touch control is better than the knob one.
Really appreciate for any inputs. :)

you can use Y splitters on the 3 pins to control additional fans on any controller. jsut don't exceed the wattage per rheostat.

You can use splitters, most rheostat fan controllers can handle at least 20 watts, some can handle up to 30 watts or more. Considering how Gentle Typhoons use approximately 3 watts or less each, you can hook up to 6 fans or more on one channel.

Knob ones are generally better, cause you have a much wider range of voltages to work with. If your case has a door like my Cosmos 1000, the knob isn't really an option.

get the kaze ace, the quallity is supurb much nicer the my sentry just installed one in a friends computer very nice

Thank guys, I'm gonna look more into it and report back as for now I'm leaning toward the Lamptron FC5-V2 since it looks slick and also have great reviews :D

Lamptron Fan Controller, 6 Channels, Up to 45W each
^you talking about that one

Lamptron FC5-V2 for sure. Got mine a couple of weeks ago and it looks incredible.

I was in the same dilemma as you were a couple of months ago. The display on the scythe looks like an alarm clock from the 90's compared to the lamptron.

lol i think the lamptron looks more like a alarm clock with its large font and single color font.

The fc5v2 has several color options. Set by jumpers. & you can jumper setting for temps or voltages.

I think you got the two mixed up
no im dure i didnt, i just mean on the kaze the temp and fan speed are different colors from each other the lamptrons font, while being able to change colors are the same color not saying its not a good fan controller. just saying.

This makes me confused, so how's the display on the Lamptron vs Scythe? Is it bright enough to read on daylight since I know some fan controllers' display are not?

I've tried both the Scythe Kaze Ace, and the Lamptron FC-6.

The Scythe was a better controller, as it seemed to use voltage control rather than PWM control. The fan speeds responded in a linear fashion to the dial. The Lamptron FC-6 uses PWM, and is very finicky. Halfway on the dial, I assume, gives out a 50% duty cycle, which will give you well below 50% fan speed (and may be very unstable on some fans).

That being said, I stuck with the Lamptron FC-6 because it still gave me the speeds I wanted, and simply looked a lot better on my HAF X case, especially with the ability to change the color to red.

The Lamptron does provide a lot more wattage per channel though, if you plan on running multiple fans per channel.

Thank you for the answer, I'm not gonna use many fans so I don't really care if it can handle more fans per channel, just get the job done which is adjust the fan speed accordingly and I'm good. And it looks like to me that the Lamptron might be "overkill" for my need while I can get a cheaper Scythe that can do the job. Unless I can find a good deal for the FC5v2 I guess I would give the Scythe a try.

well i wouldnt say a lot more, its 20 watts for the kaze and 30 for the lamptron, i havent ever messed with the lamptron, but the kaze knob controls are very responsive and allow very fine tuning

I'm convinced that the Scythe Kaze Ace is probably what I need as I can get it for half the price of the Lamptron but reading about the reviews say that it dies often scare me a bit. If I have to pay more for the Lamptron with better build and quality, reliability then I think it's worth it. Any more thoughts?

i would go with the kaze, every part can fail regardless of who its made by, its more luck of the draw
