I am thinking of buying a 5.25" front panel fan controller, but I have no idea what kind to get. Everything I find on Newegg that meets my minimum requirements seem to have lots of reports of failures in the first year, even if they are 4 star or higher on average. (Newegg is not a requirement, just the place I look first for most things, I am willing to buy from almost anyone.)

Here are my minimum requirements:

Controls at least 4 fans.
Displays RPM of fans (can be one at a time, or all of them at once).
Black.
Long-term reliability.

Here are my preferences:

No knobs that stick out from the front of the case (but if it is a great controller I can deal with this).
Above-average RPM range on most fans (More precisely, not handicapped so it can't reach the fans max-RPM, as some seem to be.)

Here is the dream device:

All of the above plus:
Controls 8 fans.
Displays all 8 fans RPMs at once, or can cycle through them by pairs at the very least.
Has a really nice looking LCD display.


Any ideas?
 
For standard 4 ch I got a Kaze Master, just remember to clip heatsinks onto the MOSFET that gets close to max current load as they overheat if you don't.

For a dream device you will probably have to roll your own,

Designing one with 6x 48W channels and 10 temp probes, but the PCB is still very much work in progress.
