Fan Control Software?

Is there any really good fan control software out there? I'd love to pick up a bunch of PWM fans, drop them on a few MB headers, and then just let the whole system roll on its own, but I don't really know of a way to make that happen. I used speedfan once upon a time, but it doesn't seem to detect my motherboard and shows all the fan RPMs at 45,000 RPM. Any suggestions?

Checkout the latest speedfan, it's frequently updated to add MB support, but fan control depends on hardware support.

The problem you might face is that not all fan headers on a MB support speed control. Most MBs have speed control on CPU fan, but not on case fan headers. Usually, the motherboard manufacturer ships with its own software that works with the board.

The MB in question is a Gigabyte x48-ds4. I can't find any fan control software on the Gigabyte site regarding this particular MB, and my guess is if Speedfan doesn't support it now, it won't ever. Even so, I'll download the newest version and hope!

Hey don't assume Speedfan won't support it! The developer is really awesome and always tries to incorporate motherboards (even old ones). Send in a request to see if the x48ds4 can be included?

Have you checked out the latest Easy Tune? I used to own a GB board and im fairly certain it could do a fan speed adjusting.

On a side note, has anyone had any issues with Speedfan? My PC tends to lock up/restart from time ti time when its running in the background. So i just set the desired fan speed and turn it off, but then i lose temp monitoring feature for which im forced to use another software :/

Gigabyte motherboards tend to have fan speed adjustment on the CPU header and that alone. You might be out of luck.
