My case is way too loud! I want to lower my fan speeds using resistors, because I don't want to spend anymore money on it unless I get an 8800. Please let me know what Ohm resistors work well with a 120mm and an 80mm, thanks!
 
Depends on the fan.

Give us the fan model numbers, or their wattage, and of course, how far you want to slow them down.

2 Antec 80mm tri-led (blue) ?not sure on Amps?
2600 rpm / want about 1500 - 2000 rpm

120mm Delta Elec. Model# D8794 1.6A from a Dell XPS 400 case
3900 rpm / want about 1500 - 2000 rpm

well, for the 80's... I'm assuming you want to get em to 7v? A resistor around 35w should suffice I'd imagine... Get a resistor that's at least 1w.

For the 120... Uhhhm, I'm not believing it's a 19w fan... But if it is, you'll need a rheostat.

Why not get a sunbeam rheobus? They're about 20$... And it'll last for the rest of your life.
 
Oops, nevermind, I had a tiny fan cooling my 2 hard drives that was a dc5v, I unplugged it and the noice level went way down, I happened to have a small fan the same size that was a 12v and it's way quieter. Thanks!
