Fan Circulation

Ok i just bought two new fans and i want to know from everyones experience and knowledge if i am doing this correctly..

this is the current setup..

I have two on the back blowing out.
Two in the front blowing in.
One on side Blowing out.
Cpu Blowing In.

My questions are:
Should i replace the back grills with wire grills?
Should i turn the side fan to pull air in for the hsf?
Is my setup correct?

Most definitely. Wire grilles will allow far more air to pass through, and will be less noisy.

Should i turn the side fan to pull air in for the hsf?

Try both configurations and see which works best. Alternatively you could remove the fan and create a duct from this side intake to the HSF.

Is my setup correct?

When it comes to determining the optimal airflow in an obstacle-filled case, the only way to be certain is by testing

definately make the fan in the side panel suck air inwards.

the two fans in the front of that case are doing next to nothing.............you might consider doing something else with one of them.

the grills in the back are definately restricting your airflow, but it might not be worth the effort of cutting out the grills, considering the poor air circulation of the whole case. you might want to try running for a while and seeing what you tems are like before doing anything other than point that side fan inwards.

you can remove those rear fan grills using tin snips rather than a dremel. not a BIG deal if you do it in advance, however using tin snips lets you do the mod after you already have your hardware installed. doing it that way would let you do the testing first, without having to strip things down again before doing the mod.

the side fan needs to be in. otherwise you completely starve your CPU HSF of air.

Everything is aOK, and the blower fans at the front are fine.
EXCEPT have the side fan blowing inwards. definately.
also, maybe consider having a top blower fan if there is a space available (blowing outwards)

ok i will do a test, using bios temp readings, speedfan and core center..

Before Readings
Bios: 38-40 Idle
Speed Fan: 39-42 Idle ~~ 48-50 heavy load
Core Center: 40-41 Idle ~~ 48-51 heavy load

Okay wish me luck, i have a good feeling the temps are gonna climb down..

BTW i have YET not recieved the 2 fans i ordered nor have i done any case cutting...

I also second making the side fan an intake.

I have almost the same air setup..on my antec plusview...I got 2 in front blowing in..the window one blowing in,2 outtake in the back..and my cpu is blowing in too...

on the window..I highly recommend having it as an intake..dropped my 6800ultra's temp by 5c by putting intake instead of out.

Ok doesn't seem like there is any difference in temps but..
when i removed the fan there was a small thin grill.. i blew onto my palm and put the moved the grill back and forth between my mouth and the palm.. there is such a big difference...

Also the led's look so much brighter shining inside its like having an entirely new case!!

anyway here are some pics.. I will post back here once i get the 2 new fans setup
