Hi everyone -- I have an OEM HP desktop that's about 3 years old. It has two fans...one is working fine but the other has been making a lot of noise when it spins, as if something's caught in there. A lot of times the noises will come and go, but sometimes they'll persist for hours and become so loud that I have to shut down my computer and restart it. I think the fan that is acting up is attached to my heat sync, so I'm wondering what's the best method to go about getting this fixed or replaced? I opened it up and sprayed out a bunch of dust particles but that didn't help very much.

Thanks...

Replace the fan making noise. That squealing is the bearing on the fan going out.

I thought it was really hard to replace the fan attached to the heat sync?? Thanks

buy a new fan the same size and unscrew old fan, voila. its probably a 60mm fan. if not then its a 80mm.
