Was wondering if 250 USD a good price point for a video card for Fallout? Was thinking 290x of ebay but not sure if there are any better deal. Monitor is 1080p 60hz.

Gtx 970, I would find one cheap or used. Though you should provide the resolution/hz of your monitor.

Well in that case, GTX 970 would be the sweet spot then...at least with current data. If AMD comes out with a new driver that improves performance to the relative levels we're used to seeing, then a 290X/390X would also be a good option.

Did you not read the article amd sorry is having issues and theres no sli or crossfire setup config yet in the article it says...........

How much would you actually be getting the used 290x for? I wouldn't pay $250 USD though for a used 290x at this point.

The R9 390 and GTX 970 (can also resale the game code for this) will likely be commonly available below $300 new once BF hits (right now the prices are slightly higher which is typical right before the sales season).

According to the rumor mill, AMD is set to release a 4GB 380X for $249 in late October. Nvidia may quite possibly respond with a GTX 960 Ti - there's a glaringly obvious hole in the 9xx lineup between the 960 ($170ish) and 970 ($280ish).

Running fine on a 680 4gb i bought via craigslist for 60$ on high/ultra settings mixed. So any 900series cards 4gb+ should run it amazing. I got no complaints so far but only played about 1 1/2 hours so far.

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent.
8 GB RAM.
30 GB free HDD space.
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent.

My brother is playing it on ultra with a 770 @1440 so I would imagine a 960 would be just fine as well.

There have been recent JET deals with GTX 970s available for under $250. Buy one of those for playing Fallout 4 at 1080p. AMD cards perform terribly, don't buy a 290x for FO4.

I snagged a gtx 970 asus strix off jet for 245 and it's performing very well in fallout 4.
