Fallout 1.5 Resurrection (Fallout2 mod)

Huh, interesting... they're basically making their own Fallout game. I'll give it a download, although I still haven't beaten Fallout 1 yet....
 
Cool. I'd like to see Fallout or Fallout 2 remade with the Gamebryo engine, only saving the old Fallout gameplay if possible.
 
Looks like a good mod for the die hard Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 fan. That includes me I freaking saved my allowances just to buy those two games way back! GODDAMIT!

nothing is wrong with fo3. its known for being game of the year for a reason and highly regarded as the best game of last year by many users.

Fallout 3 has a lot of problems. Its a fun game, but its FAR from perfect. As typical of Bethesda its loaded with bugs, many that are quite game ruining.

SS2? Fucked up? Uhh....Wha? Sure it has some issues, but huh? I suppose you like the horribly simplistic, dumbed down, easy version of SS2 known as Bioshock better?

No FO3 is a terrible game my friend. Tons of people are waiting for modders to fix what is broken in the game including me. Exactly like Oblivion we are left waiting at least 6 months to a full year to play it.

I think the last patch fixed something in the game so I can play it for more than five minutes without it crashing, locking up, or just going to an unplayable state.

Its funny because it doesn't crash unpatched, but as soon as the first patch hit bye-bye playability.

Well I wasn't even referring to game crashes :(, even if the game was 100% stable (which it is for me) I would hate it. Oblivion heavily modded is brilliant, and the same will probably be said for Fallout 3.

I like Fallout 3 for what it is. I can't play Oblivion without mods and even barely with them. It just feels so dumbed down for the mass market compared to Morrowind that I can't stand it. At least with FO3 I knew what to expect going in. The only part of Oblivion I really liked was Shivering Isles.

besides the game bugs, the whole game is bloody great. we could do a poll now and i bet most will agree with me.

i laugh at people like you who constantly critisise this game where there are FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR worse games done on the pc.

for me i dont have much issues with this game and oblivion. lets talk about the gameplay.

issues i have are:

  • CTD once every 10 hours i play it
  • dvd cant start the game proper and had to use the other method
  • entering VATS sometimes slows down the game dramaticly

it seems like you and others hate the storyline? the vats? combat system? weapons? the whole world/level design. Because from the sounds of things, you and others have clearly stated that almost everyting is wrong with this game.

Yes it has bugs but many pc games do. GTA4 is alot worse then this. so is resident evil 4 pc. like you and others have said, mods will make this game 10x better but if you dont like the storyline, combat system etc then i dont know why you bothered getting this game in the first place

ahh its cool. i edited to add more points though.

I'll pick up the DLC packs and play through them. Might go back to collect the rest of the achievements and do more shit. Will start adding a lot of mods after the DLC is out so I don't worry about buying DLC and having it break my already installed mods. I use a few now, but not a lot.

HOLY HELL! How come this is the first i am hearing about this!?! Hot dog, i would love some home brewed fallout 2 goodness. Don't get me wrong, i liked FO3 and had a ton of fun playing it (and hopefully mods too, down the road), but it wasn't F1 or F2. Man, i never even dreamed anybody was working on a mod. Sweet! :D
 
I think fallout 3 was honestly a great attempt at carrying on the FO franchise, and they capture a lot of the essense of fallout, but they've just missed the mark with a lot of things.

They opted to go a route which was less honerable towards Fallout1/2 and was more appealing to the mass market, otherwise known as selling out. Well whatever that was their choice and I suppose they paid a whole bunch of money for the licence to do that, but you have to remember that theres a load of us fallout 1/2 fans which were crazy over the original games and would like to see them remade "right".

Sorry if some of you dont understand that. I fully support it being modded if it's being done to keep fallout more true to the originals.
 
I'm a hardcore Fallout 1 and 2 fan. I also love Tactics even though many didn't. But I do think that while Fallout 3 wasn't perfect, it's a damn good game and a damn good fit to the Fallout universe. My only real....real let down of Fallout 3 was the ending, because it wasn't as through as the original 2 which they basically recapped all the major decisions you did and how they affected the world in the future (Junk town wouldn't survive the massive amount of raider attacks and would be eventually consumed by the desert) Things like that.
 
Lets keep on topic here Fanboys and anti-fanboys. Fallout 3 being a "bad game" is an opinion, not a fact, because there is no way to quantify a game being "bad", thusly there can be no established fact of it's quality. Get over it.

Fallout 1.5 is a great idea, lets see it.

yea you can quantify a bad game but how many people say its a bad game and judging from fo3's rep, its game of the year pal like it or not :)

A truly crappy game you can call crappy.. but whether a popular game is good or not, still comes down to personal opinion. Lot's of people liked Far Cry 2, yet there is a vast majority that absolutely hated it. Doesn't mean that the ones who enjoyed it are wrong ;)
 
I may have to consider downloading this mod in the future. Always liked the Fallout series. As for the quality of Fallout 3, well, that is up to personal opinion. I had no illusions that Fallout 3 would be the same. Take two different development teams and the same idea, and what do you get? Most likely, something relatively different from each other.
 
Indeed. FO3 is a fun game. I think they did a pretty good job getting the fallout "feel". Not completely, but pretty good considering that they aren't black isle. ;) But one of the things i always liked about all of the originals was the turn based combat. It was tactical, not a shooter. Your turn to turn decisions mattered, and you had time to make those decisions. Making the system 3D and taking the turn based aspect out made it more of a FPS than an RPG.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, far from it. Personally i was able to enjoy FO3 for what it was, even though it wasn't what i wanted it to be. So basically, this mod could be considered the "real" fallout 3, and bethesda's version could almost be considered a whole new franchise.

Either way you look at it more fallout is >> no new fallout at all. :D

far cry 2 was interesting for the first 10mins of the game. after that its rinse and repeat for the next 10+hours of gameplay in SP mode

But the way others go on and on about fo3 being such a shit game gives me the impression that fo3 is the worse pc game ever made.
 
I'm having a hard time understanding how this discussion is relevant to FO1.5 Resurrection (which looks awesome, by the way).

Increased spawn, one of the radio mods that adds more music, one of the ones that change the look of the map screen, one that changes the way the pipboy looks, probably a couple more. I haven't played since the DLC came out so I don't remember everything I use. I have the HD textures mod installed as well, but haven't used it yet.
