If you are shopping for a budget GPU, be warned that there are reportedly fake NVIDIA graphics cards floating around in Germany right now.

"Several fake NVIDIA cards — probably GeForce GT 440 — have had their BIOS reflashed to report themselves as GeForce GTX 660. They were sold under the brand "GTX660 4096MB Nvidia Bulk" but only deliver 1/4 of the speed of a real GTX 660. Investigations are ongoing into who did the reflashing, but several hundred of them have already been sold and are now being recalled."

There was a lot of those card on ebay too.
I'm quite sure it was discussed here not that long ago.

This reminds me of the problem years (and years :D) ago where some people were re-marking Intel processors. Fun times back then.

But they're still more powerful than PS4/Xbone, right.

Guess we can blame Jen-Hsun for setting the precedent...http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2009/10/03/fermi-card-on-stage-wasn-t-real/1

Seriously, why isn't there more hardware safety to prevent people from doing exactly this?
Good old China, reflashing hardware to sell it as something it's not. Or better yet fake caps that will cause fires. Scum of the earth.

inside the smaller one is a 22pf ceramic disc capacitor.

LoL...

Also reminds me of other classic cons... the USB stick inside a SSD enclosure & the good'ol brick inside an underpowered PSU.

Dangerous as hell that last one...

Wtf? That actually looks like it would be more expensive to make than the real thing.

PSU weighting more = quality! Old world mentality.

I remember that it's an actual USB stick, albeit the real storage is just from a 32MB one, when it's supposed to be a 32GB USB stick.

However here's the 500GB HDD that's actually 128MB: http://www.neowin.net/news/fake-chinese-500-gb-external-drive-is-one-clever-paperweight-literally

Shoot go look at site aliexpress, majority of nvidia cards on that site are reflashed fermi cards being sold as like 780 or 780ti. yet specs say it has 128bit ram bus, 192 cuda cores. etc

If that Rubycon is real, they'd make more money from it then a capacitor called "Master".
Doubt it's real rubycon cap, probably a knockoff does rubycon even use that blue and white text? Knockoffs making super knockoffs showing them how it's done.
