Hardware Secrets has a rather interesting story posted today (well, if you consider getting ripped off “interesting”) about some fake 2GB USB drives making the rounds. Take a look at this baby:

Since it's labeled with a mac address, I'm assuming it's more likely that it's a fake 802.11 device, not a fake memory key.

I thought this was about the 2gb memory keys that turned out to be 32mb devices.

yup,
I saw this story a few months ago regarding fake wireless USB dongles on ebay.

LOL, let me see :

-Someone buy a wireless usb adapter.
-He remove the cover and use the inner parts himself.
-Cut a usb wire then glue to the cover.
-Close.
-Sell.
-...
-Profit.

That picture has been going around for a few years. Its dated in my collection as from 2005. It was originally for a bluetooth adapter

they can't even find a USB drive that mounts and displays 2GB free (with considerably less real free space). At least one of the following must be true:

1. Nobody bothers when real 2G USB drives run $15 retail.
2. The author of the article is clueless

Wumpus

Remember when they sold 16 and 32 Mb flash drives?

Yikes, I missed even that, my first flash drive was a Nexdisk 64mb "thumb" drive...still use it today for small crap back and forth from my work, or out to my parent's....anyway's, that fracker cost 40 bucks on sale, and now you can buy a 2gb drive for what, 10 bucks?
