i just started to notice this on my 941bw. there are these evenly spaced vertical lines that tend to stick out on solid backgrounds. they tend to show up more on gray, black, and blue colors. it is really starting to annoy me and i would like to figure out what this is. anyone have any thoughts?

anyone? this problem is really bothering me and i would like to try to figure out what it is and fix it if it is possible.

Maybe its the tiny lines between the pixels you see? If i look really close on my 913n i can se vertical and horisontal lines between the pixels on a white background.

I dont think thats the case but its the only thing i could think of...

na its not that. you cant see it on white backgrounds. they are like faint white lines that are very noticeable on dark colors. it bugs the hell out of me. ive tried to take a picture of it but they wont show up. ill try again to see if i can get them to show up.

The way your telling it seems like the 'banding' problem. As that is pretty comon for lcd's with especialy grey colors.

//correct me if im wrong tho

id say the lines are about 1.5-2 inches apart. ive been researching about the banding problems. im pretty sure thats what is wrong. is there anyway to fix this?

Sounds like it might be banding to me too. If so, it should be very obvious when displaying this image:

There's not usually a way to fix banding. Some monitors, like the Dell 2007wfp, have a "desktop" mode setting that reduces banding by disabling its problematic onboard overdrive chip. You might try switching display modes if that option is available on your monitor.

yea its a banding problem. i really dont seem to notice it in game though, just in desktop use. if it really starts to bother me, then i think i will send it in. the monitor has a 3 year warrenty so i should be fine.

(sorry I'm bumping such an old thread)
Wait, so you can turn off overdrive on the 2007WFP, and it reduces banding? Does that worsen the response time by a lot...?

edit: oh holy thread ressurection batman!

in any form of motion banding only appears on your screen for a fraction of a second (1/60th in game or 1/30th in a movie).

I remember an ancient LCD I had that if it ran out of its native res it would create these vertical lines of smooshing.

No, you can't turn off overdrive on the 2007WFP. The desktop mode just disables the color enhancement engine that causes banding in the other modes.
