Have there ever been reports of MX700's that for some unknown reason just didn't ever perform very well? I've had mine for almost 2 years, and it's been okay, but a little less accurate than my old MS Wheelmouse. I tried an MX310 and some new (wired) MS one lately and could immediately feel that they were better. I have a woodgrain desk and no mousepad. Other surfaces don't help. Also, it won't charge the batteries any more properly (I put fresh ones in) - they last a day and the red light flashes. The green light does flash when I put it in the cradle. I hear soft clicking noises. Is that a common problem?

It's supposed to have a 5 year warranty. I just suspect that I'll send it away and they'll send it right back saying it seems fine to them (really, it does work quite acceptably for normal desktop use, just nothing near as well in games as the 310, or even older MS Optical mice). I wonder whether it's worth the effort or if I should just get an MX310 - I'd really like to switch back to using my left hand, but wireless is too cool to give up on a whim. For what I paid for it I'd rather not just chuck it away.
