I have a dual core machine here, I just found out you can have two clients folding on each core.

I was wondering after setting up the two console clients and setting the machine id, do we have to go into the task manager and change the cpu affinity as well? I.E. set CPU 0 for the first process, and CPU 1 for the second.

That wouldn't be an ideal situation, I wouldn't think.

Your machine will have no choice but to automatically run two clients on each core for the SMP client, since it is set to run 4 instances of FoldingAtHome regardless of the number of clients.

I couldn't recommend running 4 instances of the console client on a dual core machine--you only want one instance of the console client running on a core.

Ok, well that isn't what you said at all. :)

Yes, once the two instances are running you can right-click your Taskbar and go to "Task Manager", and go to Processes. Right-click each of the FoldingAtHome processes (for me it's FahCore_a1.exe, but that's the SMP client) and then choose "Set Affinity". Make sure Core 0 and Core 1 are assigned (one to each) and that should be it!

Tried that with most combinations of clients.
.
With two console clients it makes no difference.
With a GPU & a client it makes no difference.
Only with a GPU & an SMP client running together does it make a difference.
But the SMP client needs to be reset at the start of each new protien so its no a "set & forget" setup.
