Fable 2 Impressions

Wonder if they could patch something like that?

From what I've heard the XBL update for Fable 2 fixed a infinite xp glitch so its not out of the realm of possibility but I won't be holding my breath.

Maybe I should've worded it...

"wonder if they would patch something like that"

I finished the main story the night before last and I do still think it was a great game, I played the game as 100% good with 100% purity.. Now I'm still having a blast going through towns clearing them out completely being evil. I am now happily married to Amy the Whore and I use the Fairfax Castle as our home. We are a happy family with our two bastard children Steve and Anna, I plan to make more.

Some of the things that annoy me are the loading times and the glitchy-ness of some stuff. I previously stated I was having freezing issues with my game but that really stopped completely after I made that post. I really dislike the whole menu system especially as far as using potions where you have to bring up the menu every time you use an item a potion or food. Also the gift giving system drives me crazy because it auto-saves your game every time you send something, since I've finished the game I have turned on the "see all orbs" option and have been giving random people mass amounts of money (since I'm making 23k gold every 5 minutes) and items and it gets really annoying having to deal with the auto-saving every time I send someone something. A couple more things that annoy me but they are kinda spoilers so I wont mention.

I really do hope they come out with some expansions of some sort..

I have yet to find a game on these generation machines that don't have slow load times. They are all annoying.

I played the original Fable for XBOX, but I found it way too short. How is the length of Fable 2? Maybe its too early to ask.

Depends how you play it. Follow the bread crumb trail straight through to the end, 6-8 hours. Do all the side quests, find all the treasures, buy all the stores, homes shops, get a job, have and take care of a family, some have already put in 50 hours.

Yeah, the main quest should take you about 10-12 hours. I was up at 17 hours before I was 2/3rds though though... and some of the best dungeons and experiences came after the main story was complete for me. Especially the hidden dungeons and some of the demon doors.

It's actually a shame that most people wont see them.

If people picked up Fable 2 to just rush through and beat the bad guy then one must wonder why they even bought it in the first place. The entire point of such a game is to explore and take your time getting to the bad guy and then explore the world after that. Finding all the various hidden things is the entire point. If they treat it like a race then they'll get the exact amount of fun out of it that they put time into it ... none.

::SPOILER ALERT::

I'm only 2 hours into the game so far and I have to say that I LOVE it! The little kid quests were fun, but when I saw that bully picking on the dog I got royally pissed! When I heard that realistic dog whine and saw her cowering (I think of the dog as a girl- acts kind of like my Black Lab) something inside me snapped and I wanted to impale the snot-nosed little jerk with my wooden sword! I tried to hunt him down after he ran away, but the game wouldn't let me :(

When Theresa sent me into the chamber of Fate I thought it was a pretty good starting dungeon- but when I walked across the bridge over the chasm and saw the chamber of fate it suddenly hit me where I was- I was in the GUILD! I had this moment of awe and complete gratitude that Lionhead did such a great fanservice moment. Plus finding what remained of the guild library was awesome. In Fable 1 I couldn't read the books, but for some reason in Fable II I find myself reading every book I find, and even reading the description for almost every item I get.

I appreciate that the game let me choose what Will ability I wanted first- I'm glad it didn't force me to take lightning; I chose Inferno. Sometimes it's hard to remember how to make the Will behave the way I want (area attack vs. targeted fireball), but I think that's an issue of me jsut starting the game, not a problem with gameplay mechanics.

My first real quest, against Thag's bandits, was a lot of fun- it made me realize how BIG Albion is now- I'm really loking forward to exploring more of it. When Thag kicked my dog I got pissed again and found myself wishing for a Fallout style aiming mechanic so I could shoot him in the groin! I was very glad to kill him:p

I love the Blacksmithing mini-game; I actually don't mind having to play it, since I'm making a lot of money off of it. I can't wait to buy a few good shops so I can get some gold rolling in on a regular basis ;)

Overall I am very happy with the game so far!

Hehe, funny enough. . . you actually can pull off stunts like that and in your stats page it even tells you how many crotch shots you have :). I believe it's the last skill in the Dextrous Skills that gives you the sub-targeting ability that is practically broken with how easily it lets you dispatch enemies!

1) After you level up your Skill you will be able to choose what parts of the body you want to hit by holding Y and the left trigger and moving the left stick... including the groin.

2) Yeah, I Blacksmithed for a few hours when I first got the game to get a good start on money and property, eventually you'll find the Wood Cutter is MUCH easier and faster (Oakfield). Might want to check that out before you spend a ton of time Blacksmithing, I know I wish I would have.

:)

god damnt this game sounds so awesome. going to go buy it tomorrow, be 100% good guy at the beginning, buy everything, impregnate everyone, and then go through and steal everything and kill everyone i can. except for my dog. i like dogs.

i hope all of what i just said is possible in the game mechanics, and after reading 5 pages on fable 2, i think it very will may be. this really really sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. cant wait.

just outta plain curiosity, can you impregnate your wife and then kill her while shes pregnant?

wow i thought you would of got banned from the antics you put out on that other thread! guess your apology was granted by the mods.

anyways back on topic. does anybody know if thsi will come out on the pc

The child is born instantly. There's no pregnancy period. She's basically a child slot machine.

I'm not so certain the wood chopping is better $/time, or easier at all for that matter. Yes, there's $ for every strike, unlike 5 strikes to reap your reward in blacksmithing, but there are a couple reasons why I'm not so much a fan of the wood cutting: it's 10 successful chops to get your multiplier - and once you start making decent money, say a multiplier of 3 (atleast 30 chops), you get all glossy-eyed while its getting harder. I've gotten in the 50-60 range, but its not a regular feat by any means (for me atleast). If you did 30 successful strikes at blacksmithing, you'd be set up for a multiplier of 6 at that point, say $600 for 5 strikes if maxed skill. True, woodcutting you would be 720 per 5 strikes at this point (@ 4 skill, haven't made to 5 yet ><), but I believe the setup for each attempt at woodcutting is longer than if you average 5 strikes + 1 setup for smithing. Plus, increasing your multiplier after each succesful sword is enough to keep me interested.

Plus, I find the townsfolk and background sound more interesting in the market.

Hahaha, yup, I was pretty surprised how quick it happened. However, it seems to take a while for the baby to grow up. I'm not too far into the game, but my baby is still in its crib, covered by a blanket, after two days of playing.

I haven't read the manual yet, and maybe this has already been asked (if so I apologize), but is there a way to get a small map on the HUD, like in the first game? Or did they just get rid of that totally, because of the bread crumbs?

Ive had a blast, ive been playing it since launch (preorder) and havent been let down.
*spoiler to the beginners*
I married lady gray as i got pissed off at doing all the work for that fucking emo guy...so i took her for myself, banged her and had a kid.
Sadly at the end...well i had to get REmarried...so i married one of the whores in bloodstone. nothing better than seeing your wife chilling out on a street corner :p

i hate you cant get the complitionist achive for 50 points without buying the pub game. Sure i can find someone that has it can join their game but thats the only way or pay 800 points. Also have to find the other 4 dolls online also. So ill be getting 940/1000 on this game i guess.

I never thought I would get into this game, I picked it up reluctantly but its been fantastic. I've never had so much fun on mini-games and side quests. Having a dog is pretty cool too.

You guys are pissing me off.

I have to unsubscribe to this thread. Every time I look it just makes me feel worse about missing out.

So don't miss out. Work more hours etc. ;)

No OT. I'm actually kinda pissed about that because when I took my current job I was pretty sure I was going to get OT if it ever came up. So this passed weekend I chalked up 18 hours only to find out I got dicked on my pay.

Gutted. =/

Digging this thread out because I just bought it. I waited so long because I was hoping for a PC version but even if one does come out it won't be until at least a year after the 360 version has been out. At least I got it for $40!

I have to say, this game is awesome, and I like it better than the original. I am primarily a PC gamer but I liked the first one so much (bought it on PC) that I figured it wouldn't be that bad for me to play on the 360. I think I played for 8 straight hours yesterday... something I haven't done since Mass Effect came out on the PC. Not sure how I am going to beat this archery competition, though, especially since I am not very good at aiming with a joystick.

Fable 2 was a ton of fun. My wife had a really good time with it, too.
It's a little shorter than I expected (I played it after Fallout 3) but it's still a stellar game.

Yeah, despite having some issues with the game (a few that existed in the first one, so they were never addressed), I really like Fable 2. I finished the first DLC (Knothole Island), and I'm almost done with the second DLC. I stopped and started playing something else and just haven't gotten back to it yet.

Yeah, it's pretty tough. I wouldn't mind winning the doll (you need 2nd place I think), so I could get the doll collector achievement.

With a bit of practice it's pretty easy to get first place time and time again... but only if you have certain targets in the range.

Which you can probably work out if you got that far but I wont spoil.

I only have an issue with the 2nd round. That stupid bridge. I think it's the distance or something. I try to stay calm and just go slow and aim for headshots but I always fuck it up. I get like 50+ on the other 2 easy, but the 2nd round is always like ~30 recently.

:[

I do have some problems with the name (nothing I'll go into detail now - at work), but it hasn't really stopped me from enjoying it.

I have this coming from goozex, you guys have given me high hopes, despite the fact that I really disliked fable 1.

You'll probably be disappointed by the story. But there's a lot to see and do. The areas area lot larger and there's more nooks to explore.

honestly gameplay is much more important to me than the story. If I enjoy playing and have the urge to get loot, level up, whatever, I can ignore even the worst story :D

Yeah, plow the main story because it's terrible and it's probably not a bad idea to spoil the ending so that you don't mess yourself over. Then go have fun with the remainder of the game!

Sorry i really didnt like fable 2, way to short and yes i did all the side quests as well. The story was decent. I did like the magic part of the game casting tier 5 explosion was fun. I guess someone dropping 60 mill on me + that fabled katana was what ruined it for me lol

Huh?

I have to say the magic implementation in Fable2 might've been my most hated aspect.

And where the fuck is my mini-map? Map system is severely lacking.

And where the fuck is my mini-map? Map system is severely lacking.

Yeah I was dissapointed when I found out that was missing. The trail/path light was nice, but I still wanted a map, to see surrounding trails and landscape around me, without having to pause the game.

im talking about when i opened up the game to multiplayer and some random gamer walked up to me and gave me 60mill plus the daichi katana (cant remember the name). The game became easy mode.

I cant get myself to play it again. Once was enough

Speed runs are good fun if you don't want to play it properly. You can easily get the game finished in under 5 hours if you know what you're doing.
