F6 and USB Floppy

Has anyone ever tried using a USB floppy drive to load drivers during the F6 process in XP? I've never had to load drivers before, so I can't say I've ever done this.
 
The F6 disk procedure is very poorly coded. Good luck with that :(

Slipstream is your best bet in this situation IMO. Either that or ghetto rig a floppy drive temporarily. I hope Microsoft improves this procedure in Vista.
 
I was reading somewhere that Vista has sata drivers built in for VIA and Nvidia chipsets. Those are the only chipsets I have heard they have drivers for. There could be more drivers though. :)

My circa 2002 Toshiba Laptop let me use a Fujitsu USB Floppy before loading XP, but if you are on a Desktop PC, it probably will not work with a USB Floppy, unless there is some kind of option that says something about USB Floppy in your BIOS. You might want to check your bios to see if that is there. :;
 
Vista also allows you to load them from a Thumb Drive. I don't see Intel AHCI drivers for my DS3. Any ideas? Gigabyte's site has nothing listed, except for the Gigabyte SATA controller, but I'm not using that.
 
probably one of the few things i thought vista did great was to get rid of that floppy f6 installation.
