Okay, entertain me. What is good about F1 socket CPU and Mobo? Isn't it lower performance than FX (BD)?

Lower power. Integrated GPU.

Depends on what you do. llano's cores are more powerful than BD cores (do more work per clock cycle) however they have lower clocks and more limited overclockability. BD has more cores and can overclock better.

How good is the built-in GPU? Probably a weakling just for doing internet, office, etc?

Edit: I see that it's an HD 6550 on the A8. Middle of the pack at best. Not bad with DX 11, though.

F1 based systems are pretty amazing for an HTPC setup, they can even do some low-medium quality gaming at stock without a discrete GPU.

If I were to build an office/browsing pc for a relative it would be a toss up between a lower end SB and a Llano though, it all depends which I could get cheaper.

It's a little frustrating that AMD drivers suck in linux so it will not work that well for my htpc/mythtv network. However I admit Intel drivers suck even more in linux.

FM1 system are great if you only play mild video game like Killing Floor, Left for Dead, Counter Strike, COD etc.. i have one build as a office computer a 3870k and it's running killing floor at max detail in 1080p between 30 and 60fps.. so it's very nice for a all in one solution. Off course it can't run BF3 at Ultra in 1080p ;) I'd say that for gaming, it run the game at about the same setting as the Xbox Version (when they are ports) and at a higher resolution (1440x900 for example) with about the same framerate (around 30fps-60fps)

funny, i always thought intel had some of the better Linux drivers.

It depends on what you do. Things like wine or even mpeg2/4 video acceleration do not work anywhere near as well on Intel based GPUs under linux as they do on a nVidia based GPU + nVidia proprietary drivers. And I am not talking about performance but trouble free operation.
