I just got a Logitech elite keyboard, and noticed that F1 --> F12 kerys don't seem to work.

I have tried using USB, and the PS/2 adapter on multiple computers, and they don't work on any of them. If I use another keyboard they all work.

I figure I am just going to have to send it back to newegg. is this keyboard is known to be troublesome?

Send it back to the Egg if you want - every single keyboard you get will be "defective" in the same way. By default, the Logitech Elite keys are not f-locked, and as such, you must hit the F-lock key first...

Is ahrite man. When I purchase my Elite keyboard, I was thinking about the same thing. Is kind of stupid how you have to keep turning the damn thing on, lol.

?????
I dunno about you guys, but my f-keys work fine without hitting the f-lock button.

And that was with both the default windows drivers and then after installing the itouch drivers.

if a freakin cd came wit ur keyborad den it is probably old verison, i have new version, download from LOGITECH.COM
i upgraded mine. peace.

F-Lock is dumb, dumb, DUMB!

Why do I need single key shortcuts when I already know the 2-key shortcuts?!

F-Lock should be ON (meaning Function keys available for nornal use) by default! It isn't on MS Multimedia Keyboards either.

I have the first generation "elite" keyboard from the "Cordless Freedom Duo" and all my F* keys work perfectly w/ default windows drivers, i never did like the software that logitech offers.

my only problem is i cant hold down the up and left arrow keys and the ctrl key at the same time... i use that in games a lot for ctrl crouching and moving diagonally... kind of annoying because if i hold it it wont move that way and my computer beeps... oh well

Are your F keys turned On when you startup the computer or do you have to press the FLock key first?

I have the Internet Navigator along with the latest Logitech keyboard drivers and it works fine for me. Just a little annoyance that everytime I turn on my computer, I would have to push the F Lock key. I'm just wondering is there a way to have it on by default?

I've died countless times in all types of video games due to the poor design of the keyboards with the F-Lock button. There's no reason you should have to install bloated software that has pop-ups for other Logitech products just so you don't have to press the F-Lock button everytime you start your computer. And for the times I didnt manage to die by not hitting a F key, and remembered to hit the F-Lock but managed to hit the 'sleep' key which is right next to it. Once you push that... it's all over.

But thats just my little rant about those keyboards.

Naquani.

So, warsawtag and Naquani, are you saying this keyboard is not good for gaming? I'm confused.

Not saying its not... unless you remember to hit the F-lock key or play games that don't require the F keys.Nothing like going through a game hitting the quick save key every 10 min or so then die and realize you never saved anything.

I've also noticed that the arrow keys stick when pressing multiple keys down. But that may be because the thing is dirty and I'm too lazy to clean it.
