F-I90HD finally died?

Gang,

Can't boot my system anymore. No display on my monitor (no splash screen), fan on BFG 8800GTS runs high (it used to do this only on boot up and then return to normal levels), no HD LED activity. Also the light on my optical USB mouse is on, even with the system shut off. I disconnected the USB mouse and keyboard, still nothing, then I removed the BFG, tried the HDMI and VGA connectors still no video.
I bought my board from Steve (SFF Store) in March I did not update the BIOS, it was running fairly well until today.
Is the board dead? Any ideas?
 
Check the psu just to be sure its working properly. Your symptoms are rather classic for F-I90 HD death though. :(

I'm so glad I decided not to go with this board. :(

Good luck Rakall, if you're in the position of getting a new board the G33 chipset boards are out and they OC very well.
 
Thanks for your replies, guys. Well I will RMA it and see what the replacement board will do.
 
I'd jump on one of the G33 boards to be honest. They seem more reliable and feature ocmplete if you can get together the $140.
 
You guys make it awful hard for me to stick to this board and not go for the Gigabyte:D
I've heard nothing but praise for the GA-G33M-DS2R.

So true. I too am running a F-I90HD with a 8800gts. Even OC'ed the E4300 to 3.0Ghz at the risk of a failing mobo. It's still going strong but it carries the lastest BIOS.
I hope you can revive your mobo, man. it's allways a sad moment if something in your computer dies...
 
well, my I90HD just died couple hours ago. It has the sympton almost exactly as yours. The LED on optical drive would blink for couple seconds, and fans, HD would spin up, but nothing else. No video at all. I can't turn it off by pressing the power button. Strange.

I'm giving it a thorough CMOS clear (AC disconnected, jumper set, and battery removed overnight). I was able to revive the board month ago by doing this. But this time it seems to be more severe and my hope is low.

I too wonder whether I should RMA the board or order ASUS or gigabyte. I90HD is such a nice board for HTPC. Too bad.

Anyway, I just ordered ASUS P5K-VM from newegg. Even I could revive the board this time again, I feel it's a time bomb that is just going to set off again. I'm jsut too busy to take care it so often.

Hopefully, at the expense of throwing in a cheap video card (I must have a DVI to connect to my plasma), P5K-VM will give me a much easier life.
 
I think in the long run you'll be happy with the ASUS mobo. Its a shame the F-I90 HD has a high death rate. It had so much potential.

I agree, the F-I90HD did have a lot of potential BUT apparently only on paper! :rolleyes:
So I'm going thru the famous eRMA process with Abit right now, we'll see what kind of disaster this is going to be. ;)
And I just might not even put the replacement board in my case and just go with either the Asus or Gigabyte board.
 
Definetely go with the DS2R or the P5K-VM instead. Good luck and let us know how it works out. :)
