I noticed that the F@H team seems to be much more active. Is there a reason that the UD Team kind of seems dead?

The UD team is a quiet giant.
there is no f@h vs UD. The teams support each other with users occasionally switching back and forth to help out in a pinch.

UD lends itself better to large deployments, so a lot of our big "set 'em and forget 'em" farms are UDers.

Since folding is a project we've been working on longer, and since we are currently loosing ground fast to OCAU in it, most of our members are putting a higher priority on folding right now. I myself used to have a large school farm running UD, but the last of those machines went offline last month. Both projects are worthy causes.

We are quiet, but constant.

The UD team realized long ago that trying to split the [H]orde or actively recruit only met with less than desireable results and polarized feelings. Generally, we have taken a "We are always here when you have some cycles to spare" approach, and while we are not anywhere near contenders for first place in the UD world, we are a formidable presence.

That, in our humble opinions is enough for now. If things change, and the [H]orde decides to make a push in the direction of UD, nobody would be happier than us. It happened once before, and that effort, albeit somewhat shortlived, propelled us into the top ten from relative obscurity. Imagine what we could do with a sustained drive!

Someday perhaps. We will wait and see as we always have.

aww, seems kind of sad :( Are there any differences insofar as the results of F@H vs. the results of UD? Has one done more for the community and research than the other?

A little [H]istory may be in order here... The [H] UD effort started out as an alternative to the Stanford projects a few years ago when Stanford had a lot of problems with the folding client and their servers. Anderu and a few others who were already UDing got us to switch to UD for a while until Stanford got their act together. We put out pretty good numbers until most of us decided that the folding project was headed in the right direction again and switched our resources back. Some stayed, some split their time and others went completely back to folding. We now peacefully coexist with the UD team quietly going about their business. I haven't seen the stats since they disappeared from Statsman's page, but the last time I checked, we were still in 9th place in UD, which is great for the number of team members we have over there.

The UD team is currently in the #10 spot. Since Statsman ceased publishing our results, it is hard to guage if we are coming up on the number 9 team or not.

I know we are holding for the moment, but there are some "up and comers" in the lower ranks that are posting BIG daily numbers and powering their way up, FAST! We have been knocked out of the top ten before, and through constant presence and persistence, managed to outlast the efforts of some of the other teams to get back in.

That, if nothing else, personifies the [H] UD team. We just keep doing our thing until those ahead of us can no longer sustain the pace. Then, we've got 'em!

Again, someday I hope for more, but I am perfectly willing to keep on as we have until that happens.

I'm a folder not a UDer so to speak but King_N is and he has stats here:

Didn't know if you knew the team had a stats page or not, but ya do ;)
