Is there a F@H live cd?

I have two donated laptops here that have dead hard drives
that I'd like to fold on (might as well they're sitting here.)

First is a Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37 2.8 P4 with 512mb, second is an HP dv1000 with Centrino1.7 512mb.

Both have ata HD's and if I can find one for each under $30 bucks i'd pick em up.
I have 8 8gb flash drives that can be setup for swap drives if needed.

I was originally planning on throwing Open Solaris on them but i'm also down for any GNU/Linux distro.

The only alternate I can think of is Network boot them like thin clients ( all sorts of work.)
 
Has been very reliable for me on my older P4 dedicated folders, no problems at all.

Simple and easy way to get a few boxen crunching.

Now I've actually decided to run this on three other pcs.

I have two exact speced c2d e6600's one running xp mce, and one running server2k3 (gotta love the dreamspark freebies !) and a p4 3.0

Should I be running more than one vm machine for these or is one going to suffice?
 
it only becomes an issue if it is a quad core...... and even then....

I'd say unless you have a 3.0ghz quad or higher stick with one. There are deadlines out there that cannot be reached if you put to much on one system.

This looks to be only for the SMP client correct? If so, is there an equivalent version or something similar to use on a single core (Athlon XP 2600) processor?

Not meaning to threadjack but it seems like an appropriate Q for the topic...

It detects how many CPUs there are and runs the client appropriately (the Linux console client and SMP client are the same executable). I run the same image on on a P4, Pentium D, and Core 2. The dual cores get SMP units and the P4 get non-smp units.

Notfred's disk generator is awesome! I have 5 comps using it and it is very reliable. Also, you can keep track of them remotely. ;)
 
I threw it up on vm's on 5 computers here as well.

Leaves me with
1 PS3
1 P4 2.8
1 P4 3.0
2 C2D E6600
MBP 2.4ghz C2D
1.6 Centrino M

All folding now.
