I just acquired 2 450GTS's .. the one that went into an EVGA 650i Ultra and Q6700 w/4gb DDR2 under Vista 64 is folding just fine .. it replaced a GTX260. I uninstalled the GPU2 client and then installed the GPU3 Fermi systray client .. and it picked up and finished the WU that the 260 was working on .. and continued on with whatever other WU(s) it's getting now.

..the one that went into an EVGA 630a/7050 with a Q6600 that (at the same time) replaced an E6420 .. 4GB DDR2 under Vista 64 .. it replaced an "Eco" 9800GT.

At first I had trouble seeing the 2 new extra cores and had to uninstall the E6420's out of device manager .. reboot .. let windows see the new cores ..reboot ..but still task manager only seeing 2 cores .. so I did the "msconfig" advanced boot options and changed boot cores to 1 and then put check on "Det Hal" .. I think is what it was called .. hit apply and then reboot and then windows could now see/use all 4 cores.

..anyways .. I uninstalled all existing nvidia vid drivers .. and installed the new beta 280.19 drivers (same as other machine with the other 450gts) .. uninstalled the GPU2 systray client and also deleted the folding@home GPU folder in users/me/roaming/bla bla .. ran CCleaner afterwards (both file and reg cleaner) .. rebooted .. and then installed the GPU3 systray client .. put in my info and away it went ..

now I continue to get the
CoreStatus = 63 (99)

I've repeated above steps a few times now .. trying to eradicate all traces of the GPU client and then reinstalling ... what else can I do?

reinstalled windows from scratch .. installed sp1 and 2 ..then mobo drivers ..then the latest drivers .. and f@h GPU 3 client is still going to sleep on me ... grrrr

hmm ..could it be because I'm using the HDMI port ..and not one of the DVI ports? never had issues with the 9800GT running off the HDMI port and running f@h...hmmm

I have two HTPCs with that card using the HDMI ports and I don't have this problem. I think I have the power saving function to never sleep, it just turns off the monitor after 30 minutes or so. They only run gpu clients, so I don't know if this helps much.

get the WHQL drivers.. beta drivers + FAH = big no no..
after fresh install of windows .. went with the 275.33's and same problem

read somewhere that rolling back to 266.58's fixed same issue with someone else, so did that to no avail.

I'll try the GPU Tracker program. The 450gts that is in my other computer is running just peachy on the new beta drivers though.

I ran some video stress tests and the vidcard handled them just fine .. I was thinking that maybe the card wasn't handling being stressed ..or maybe my earthwatts 430wtt psu was feeding it enough juice.. but it seems fine in those departments

Welllll ...whaddyuh know ... just checked the box and it's folding@home is running now (20000/50000)

the box is still running the 266.58 drivers .. I'm going to upgrade the drivers and see if it still "stays awake" .. and setup that GPU tracker later too
