F@H GPU "Display" Causes Freezing

So I'm running the latest GPU Client at the latest ATi driver (8.2).
F@H Runs fine down on the task bar, but when I view the "Display" window, with the pretty graphics and statistics, it freezes my whole computer intermittently. What gives?

I've never had that happen. Then again, I don't use the viewer much either. It isn't really a solution, but you could just stop opening it and you won't have any problems. There are much better ways to monitor your stats anyway.

I tried the display once when I first started folding, but it is a big resource hog, and it didn't work right anyway. It may have changed since then, but I see no need to use it. Currently I use fahmon to monitor my stats, it works well enough.

like said, it is a resource hog. my cpu usage doesnt drop below 60% when viewing it. are you folding with the cpu as well? if its already at 100% folding, then displaying the gpu client might lock it up. by intermittently, do you mean it happens sometimes, or it only lasts a short while?

everytime ive accidently tried the gpu viewer it crashes the client.. so ive never seen nor ever used it..

Check to see if you're running the 59XX WU's.
For me those have been causing only very small stuttering every couple seconds while playing videos. Not so much that I can't watch something, enough to notice a slight lag in video, but it catches up and stays in sync with the audio. Other people have been reporting worse lags. From what I've gathered it seems that ATI cards are hit a little harder with this than Nvidia cards, I could be wrong though.
If you are running a 59XX wu, wait till it finishes and gets sent. Then shut down the client, delete the work folder. Create a shortcut to the .exe, add -configonly to the end, and run that shortcut to redo your setup. Disable the advmethods option during setup then restart your client like normal.
That should block the 59XX wu's and clear up your video problems if it was the 59xx's causing the issues.

it looks like they'll never gonna fix that  :(
it's been that way for ages

Not that it matters, but I'm having the exact same problem. Just wanted to let you know your not alone.

For curiosity, I'm running Vista 32bit and have a ATI HD4800. You?

it really doesnt matter what drivers, os, system your running the F@H viewer for the GPU client has never and probably never will work.. and even if it did it would effect your PPD output just having it open..

just get fahmon or fahspy to keep track of your progress..
