F@H determining load temps

Is running F@H enough of a CPU stressor to determine load temps for a proc? I am overclocking my A643200+ clawhammer and since F@H uses 100% of my CPU I figured I could monitor my temps and see if my overclock was pushing it too high. Anyone have any input?

I would think so. 100% of the cpu using F@H should be the same as 100% of the cpu running Prime95 or some similar program.

My personal choice is Prime95 for stressing. The fact is if you can’t run prime your not truly stable.

Prime in my findings will add about 2 deg c to your temps, folding isn’t quite as stressful. If you can run Prime95 stable for 24 hours folding is a piece of cake.

Luck

F@H is great for stress testing CPU's, it keeps mine nice and toasty. I have the exact same 3500+ and on air it runs around 35C with a slight (200 mhz) overclock. It's also good indicator if you have some dodgy ram, or your OC is too high, as it will send units back partially complete.

The point was if you can run Prime you won't crash any folding WU's unless you get a bad download. Prime is about the only way besides Larrys program that Killer mentioned to KNOW you have a stable over clock.

I've just never been a real fan of additional stress testing and benchmarking apps. Call it laziness or whatever you'd like, but F@H can get me everything I need since massive OC's and such aren't what I am into. For me personally its just a more convenient way to do things in a casual manner.

I'm not looking at a massive overclock (10% - 15%). I guess 100% of CPU usage isn't the same across the board. I use Sandra and the 3dMarks to determine some stability but I figured if I could get through a day or two of folding that the system is stable enough. I'll dl'ed Prime95 and try it out. Thanks BillR.
