F@H and gaming

My main box is a gaming/work/surfing rig. So, I game on it occasionally.

I've noticed that when playing certain games, I'll get booted from the game to desktop. I'll go back to the game, and it'll repeat... I finally killed eMule and F@H4 (GUI version), and this problem went away.

So, I pointed the finger at eMule. Lo, it's F@H4 GUI that steals system focus when gaming, and even when browsing. Nope, don't have it's window open, I have it sitting on the taskbar where it belongs.

I'm probably going to kill the GUI version and run command line instead, but run it as a service.

Why does F@H4 take system focus? It's irritating and pointless.

Same problem with Sim City 4 on my ATI machines.

New Cats may fix, but a switch to the console version may be required.

I had the same problem with the GUI version. I switched to the console version, used firedaemon to run it as a service and haven't had a problem since.

This issue comes up whenever someone tries to run an OpenGL game at the same time as the GUI version of F@H, which also uses OpenGL. The only fix I know of is to shut down F@H while playing the game or switching to the console client like you already have.
