Video recorded at 640X480 @ 30FPS/44Khz
Converted from raw AVI(1.29GB) to WMV(25MB)
I did this for 2 reasons.

1. I was tired off all the BAD encoded really low res videos of the F.E.A.R demo on the web.

2. To let the folks with a "aging" CPU know what a GPU upgrade might mean in terms of gaming preformance/game IQ.

There are 2 or 3 stutters in the video(I guess running FRAPS in vid-recording mode, has it's drawbacks ;) *L*), but the stutters do not appear when I game normally.

Terra - Hope you like it, as this video shows that screenshots don't do this game justice...

awesome video.

Thx :)
I will try and see if I can get a video done at 1024X768 @ 30FPS/44KHz too.
But It will really put a load on my old P4  :D

Terra - I hate crappy videos ;)

nice work terra! i enjoyed it. very bloody and detailed, things that my 6600GT will never see. is that the end of the game where you stopped? thats as far as i got, but the armored guys killed me so i dont know. did i say it was a nice video? i saved it lol

Nice video, really shows how beautiful the game is although I noticed it was quite laggy throughout :( but I'm sure it is due to compression etc.

That is far from the end ;)
It takes about 15 min to complete the demo ;)

Terra...

I would love to see the opening sequence with all the effects turned up (pokes op's eye), video was great though, grenade was funny. =)

It has more to do with that I didn't turn of firewall, virusscaner, I have no HT on my P4A and only a ATA10O HD ;)
When I play without FRAPS recording it runs a lot smoother.

Terra - But I will try and optimized my rig for the next run :)

I will try and do that tomorrow :)

Terra -- For now it's off to bed for poor old me ;)

realtime virus scaner dosent effect game preformence, HT dosent effect game preformence, and firewall doesnt effect game preformence......and your ATA100 hdd will only be a problem when you have load times.......
cool video, laggy as hell, looks kinda lame tho, i dont see a real point in it, looks like farcry meats any sorta tom clancy game~

If something is using system resources...and the game could have been using them instead, then yes, it affects performance.

Tell that to my P4 2.8A @ 3.06 when compared to my buddy's P4 3.0HT, world of difference in games, and mine is overclocked, we both have 1MB of L2 on the processor. My processor is pegged at 100% the entire time just about, while his is near 50-60% and he gets much smoother play.

Yes no matter what the masses say dual core or HT is the ticket. I lost 200mhz going to the 3800+ X2 and yet game play is in fact smoother.

I just saw the demo, pretty cool. How come you did not use the slow mo effect? Its even more effective than hiding and leaning around inamiment objects.

I think it's used once or twice. Definetly used against the guy with all the armour and nailgun (he takes a lot of explosives and bullets to take down :D)

I just toook a quck one at 1024x768 all eye candy up full with slow mo on a pistol attack, its fun.I will have to do this again only in the court yard with a shit load of people

THAT was awesome! I can't believe how much I am missing out on with a awesome graphics card.

Awesome movie... and yea that Grenade owned... Nice throw :D

Wow, very good demonstration that no still image or low res video could let me imagine. Like the dust particles for instance: In a still image, it may just look like some static lighting effect in the area, but the video clearly shows the dust flying in the air, and then slowly settling to the floor. The sparks from gunfire bouncing around was also a pretty effect to watch as well.

I could just imagine this game running at 60 fps @ 1600x1200 now :O~~ Or at least 1280x1024 with some AA.

EDIT: According to Firing Squad's tests, the FEAR demo would average 32 FPS @ 1600x1200x32 4xAA 16xAF with an eVGA 7800gtx KO. Although they also used an FX-57, that's not bad considering that the demo is probably unoptimized, and SLI wasn't used. I'd like to see this game in its full glory (or at least really close to it) with an overclocked x2 3800+ to at least 2.6 Ghz and a 7800gtx SLI configuration (I'm going for a build like this sometime in the coming months).

How do you post videos, i want to post the one I just made with glass shattering

Never mind i just figured it out. I am up loading one now for more demo goodness.

Um I guess 500meg is too much , dang.Anyoneknow were i can upload a 508 meg video of fear with a slow mo kill exstrodinair?

Ouch. That's a pretty big file. Sorry, can't help you with that. Maybe you should downsize the resolution a bit, and encode it with XviD or something. I don't really care about keeping the quality lossless in wma or something. Just as long as it looks nice.

how cana30 second video be so large? or am i reading the properties wrong? It is still uploading without error but the site says 60 meg max

Sme issues as BF2 i think - lots of loading to be done, another 1.5gig RAM job i think

I'm not exactly sure how you could read the file size wrong... It's just a matter of: right-click, and hit properties...

The file might still upload, but you'd be screwed somewhere along the way. I advise you to cancel it if you're sure its more than 60 megs. I remember uploading a file on some web site, waiting for it to complete, only to get a message that says that the file size is too big.

Dang it was a sweet video too with zero lag using rig in my sig

I'd like to see it too, but I guess the only way is to downsize it, compress with XviD or something, and reduce it to 30 fps. It'll still give us a good idea on what you see right now though.

where do i get this xvid
and yes i recorded it at 60fps maybe thats why its so big

Ok I donwloaded it but now hwat do i do with it? There does not seem to be an applette to import video in. Do i need a third party application?

Dang I am sory Terra its early and i just realized i am jacking your thread. I am sorry , its just your video was so compelling lol

lol I'm pretty sure that there'll be plenty of others that'll comment on Terra's video.

But yea, we gotta stay on topic 'cause its against the rules to jack threads. Before that, I'll leave one more off-topic post, and maybe we could discuss it through PMs or something.

I'm not 100% familiar about using XviD (I've only used it to back up some DVDs with a slow process), but I think a quick and easy solution would be using a program called Auto Gordian Knot.

It's only at 320x240, but it looks freaking sweet. The fps is at 30, but its very smooth (pretty much a standard NTSC movie's framerate). I could imagine it at 60 fps easily. Play with the options a little bit and see if you can encode a higher resolution version of it. :D

BTW, Terra: The video you gave us is actually running at 15 fps. At least for me it is.

Ijust redid it
try it now

She is 15 meg now but 640 x 480
