F.E.A.R. Combat

My email wont come through with the key, i dont understand what the prob is. I resubmitted the key request a few times now still nothing.

My server is up. It's only run on my cable modem...but it's been full ever since I got home from work. There's definitely a whole lot more people out there playing than there used to be.

Same here :(

Does anyone else have a problem with the mouse/weapon lag in this game? I know it studders if you have less than 2GB of ram (which is forcing me to put the settings on medium/low), but it doesn't feel accurate when I move the mouse. When I fire, a lot of weapons have a delay (with the sniper being the worst).

It's caused me more than a few deaths.

Make sure you turn mouse smoothing off in the options. I had to turn my sensitivity to zero on the slider bar to be able to play. Even with melee attacks which slow your sensitivity by like 3/4 when you are executing them, any more than zero sensitivity is too much.

no if you already have the game you just need the patch to play with the combat users.

here is another site to get it from. i am gettting about 200KB speeds. not great but better then filecrap and the others listed.

i tried xfire and there are no seeds at all.

http://www.ggmania.com/

Reminds me of soldier of fortune 2 MP which was better cause the maps were more open.

Im getting an invalid game assests error. Anyone else?

Yup.
Installed, edited the config file to allow 1680x1050.
Played a bit, got booted due to "api" somethin'.
Connected to another server, "invalid assets."
Rig in sig.
Just reinstalled, kept profile, good to go.

We'll see how long it lasts.

I downloaded it last night at about 300kb/s but still didnt get a cd-key... also, the file doesnt want to start... i double click it, and nothing happens.
Their Linux server also dont work (my buddy tried setting up a Linux server on his server) and he is also not getting any sound... Sierra better be working out these issues.

I've never used the Linux server, but the Winders one works just fine.

Is this awesome or?
and are some of the MP maps used the same as in the full single players game?

The full SP maps are creepier but most of them are about the same

I went through fileshack's public servers. Had to wait 8 minutes to begin the dl but I got it finished in an hour.

This is quite aggravating; the .exe file locks up my computer every time I try to run it. I've downloaded fearcombat_en_107.exe twice now (first off the BT link on the official site, then off GameSpot) and both times, when I execute the file it freezes Windows for awhile, locking up explorer.exe and forcing either a hard reset or about 10 minutes of waiting for things to start functioning again (including the Task Manager).

I can't figure out what's causing this, as I've never had any problems installing anything on this computer, and I've tried downloading the file from two sources. I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, and I've tried disabling all antivirus and spyware scanning or security programs and it still does this.

=S

After 2 attempts, with 2 seperate email adresses, I have yet to recieve a single key...bitches I say!

any IRC users...

Downloading at 205Kb/sec at filefront right now. Hour and 47 minutes remain, 29% done :p

From a buisness point of view, why would sierra release freebies? Will this help them make money in the end?

I played the snot out of RTCW:ET...hope I have the same expierence with this!

Enemy Territory was a superior game in terms of playability, fun, customizability and compatibility. Also a better game for competitive, ladder based gameplay too. This game is just mindless, strategy-less killing.

Good times! Def gonna need to play it for awhile to find all the nuances. But it's got potential. Just need to get a card that's...not...afraid. Ahahhhaha! :D

EDIT: Seriously, my card just flips out and freezes.

With the expansion pack just around the corner this is brilliant advertising, much the same way demos are a good way to advertise games, the try before you buy apporach has to be one of the best.

If I created a password protected server, would anyone here be up for a [H]ardForum only game/server?

This game has the best feature ever. It makes you want to keep playing forever! When I close the game, it crashes my computer! I can move the mouse, and pretend to be working, but nothing actually happens. Perfect for the office.

...

Yeah... wasn't too impressed with the gameplay either.

the black knight always triumphs!

the gameplay of FEAR is pretty fun. running around unarmed is a blast.

for me the best part of the game is the environment, sounds, effects etc.. running into a room on a fast computer where several grenades have gone off guns blazing is a sight to behold on close to maxx settings...

although i'll be honest: i dl'd the COMBAT version onto my PC (i have the full version of FEAR on my laptop) and the graphics look like they dubbed them down substancially for this multiplayer demo. i play on a higher resolution on my PC and when i hop on single player it blows the shit out of what im seeing in multiplayer. might be a setting im forgetting about but i keep turning everything on as much as i can.

lameeeee!

It's not a demo. ;)

They toned down the graphics a bit because physics and most effects are really, really, stressful on the server.

Anyone experiencing any lag problems? I was able to connect to several different servers and play since Thursday, but today I haven't had much luck.

I'll click onto a low ping server and sometimes it will just get stuck on the first splash screen, other times during the level load. Then, if the level loads and I actually get into the game I get stuck inside the level with an outrageous ping (22300 or some such huge ping).

My other games online games aren't having any problems (Wolf: ET and UT 2004).

I haven't had any trouble connecting to my server at all...I am local to it, though. That probably doesn't hurt anything.

I connected no probes however I did have a problem when a few ppl were on the screen. I would slow down a bit. I didn't know if it was lag or what. It got annoying and I just turned it off. I have cable 4.5 down and around 500up. No reason for lag. Weird. I tried a server on my own but it ran fine...then the more that joined and were on the screnn the slower mine got when more then 2 ppl on screen...

this game is such a blast. it gets pretty crazy, but thats fun. the only map that sucks is the woods map, because of the 16 player limit.

Have been playing the free FEAR Combat for a couple of times. Some other players agreed that it is more fun than for example Counter-Strike. Let's see if there will be new multiplayer modes, maps, weapons and characters. Suffice it to say, the price/quality ratio makes it about the best multiplayer first person shooter (FPS) game.

I wish they would add vehicles in this game. It would be nearly perfect then. I just wonder if the engine is capable of handling large outdoor areas, at least on low-end gaming machines.

im glad i cant get assraped my helo's. keep vehicles out of this game.

have they fixed the HUGE FUCKING TEXT bug yet?

The weapons in this game are retarded. I know this isn't supposed to be a slow paced game, but why would they put the Woods map in the game if the aiming is damn near useless? Even crouching and "zoomed in," I still shoot three round bursts, and those bursts still travel far and wide. Why did they put in a map that encourages distance accuracy when there is none?

My problem with FEAR combat is that i can never tell who is on my team and who is an enemy. So while i'm trying to figure that out i'm just dying.

You need the right tool for the job. The penetrator, ASP rifle & particle gun are all very accurate at long range.

The dead wood map is one of my favourites in fact.
