dell 2007fp monitors / all revision 105 - all sips panels

that's my 37" tv/monitor behind them

Whats the difference between Eyefinity setup versus just doing three monitors and having windows show it as one large monitor? Just trying to understand eyefinity. My guess is it uses newest technology to be able to easily do a 3 monitor setup and uses the new video port?

Doing three seperate monitors is easy. Having Windows/games see three monitors as one single monitor is where Eyefinity and Matrox's TripleHead2Go comes into play.

one i got from my roommate - he upgraded to a widescreen and i bought it off him

one i got from ebay... i think it was $150 or so

one i got from craigslist here locally in kansas city... about the same price if i remember correctly...

Why is it technology is suppose to make things so much more easier, yet every 18 months I'm upgrading the same technology for the same reason?? LOL

Nice setup. Is that a deflated dildo or a "used" sock hanging from your bunk bed?

hmmm, im looking right at the pic and i cant see what you're referring too...

there's the bed with the mattress on it - then a router - a few assorted cables coming from it - the power cable from my projector...

not seeing the aforementioned used sock...?

top bunk, about 5" inches in from the left corner of the left screen, and up. What is that?

Enough with the chitchat.... Where's the gaming pictures?
What games have you tried?

out of all the games ive tried / there are plenty of hor and vert issues - in both portrait and landscape

you have to consider... none of these games were designed and developed with what is officially being called surround gaming in mind

some are better than others... but 99% of them have issues

borderlands / mass effect / need for speed shift / dirt 2 / call of duty 2 - 4 - 5 - 6 / torchlight / half life 2 / crysis / bioshock / im sure there are a few others...

some of them... like mass effect... are a no go, no matter what you do, the game isnt going to like multiple monitors or anything wider than 16:9

other games like nfs:s appear to have been developed in the future because they make use of multiple monitors very very well...

the main problem i see with most games is the field of view / although the game world is there... the ability to see is off... be it vertical or horizontal or depth or whatever...

everyone gushes about eyefinity / myself included - but once that newness wears off... you can see that its the games that have to be patched or catch up

which is why portrait is better than landscape, especially for widescreen monitors - because the closer you get to a 'normal' aspect ratio - the better things are going to look/play/behave

as far as pictures go / ive actually scooted my twentys to the side and im using my single 37 again - im playing mass effect and it just works better at 1080p than it does at 4800x1200 or 3600x1600

if anyone has any request ill be happy to turn the monitors in to either portrait or landscape and demo any of the games i listed above and let you know what i come up with

and to the picture question... above my left monitor there is a router, above that is the mattress of the bed itself

the router is mounted to the bed, the mattress is sitting on top / all the rest is the pine from the bed itself... take my screenshot into paint and point out specifically what you're asking about, cheers!

looks nice...but like you said the problem with Eyefinity is the lack of game support...plus the bezels in between each monitor is very distracting and takes away from the immersion

for everyone asking about the backgroud - its 4800x1200 and located:

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6846/21222409.jpg

and the bezels are not a problem in eyefinity / like everyone who actually has it will tell you... they disappear and you have to actually stop and look for them ... other than that... you're focused on the game world

jammhamm, I've got 3 2007fp A05 IPS panels as well, and I'm about to grab a 5850 or 70 in the next week or so. What adapter are you using? You seem to have it going pretty successfully, so I'd like to plagiarize. ;)

The monoprice adapter does NOT work. The screen connected to it flickers. The Accell adapter from Amazon works perfectly.

That's what I'm planning to get, unless he's using something else.

dude... what are you on about :)

every 'adapter' out there has the flickering problem - the dp to dvi and the dp to vga both have the flickering issue

which has been fixed by flashing the bios on the card [which i have done, which does fix the sync and flashing issue...]

which, even before... in 2 hours of crysis [or any game...] i maybe got 3 or 4 flashes... wasnt really a problem to start with

saying it 'flickers' is a bit of a misnomer... that makes it sound like its a constant on off on off on off problem - its not... what it does it blanks out for maybe half a second
and it does it every half hour or so...

I just wanted to say thanks for the thread and the pictures! I had an old dell 2001fp. I built a new computer with a 5850, then noticed eyefinity vids on youtube. I bought 2 more dell 2001fp's and a monoprice adapter for DP -> VGA. Eyefinity setup took about 15 minutes. I use 2 DVI and the DP to VGA. The VGA is slightly less clear and bright, but it is almost imperceptible when actually using the monitors.

I love the setup now. I thought I would like to keep them in portrait, but I find the 4800X1200 resolution better for immersion in FPS games. Maybe the 16:10 displays are just too wide! 3 4:3's seems just perfect.

While playing the bezels actually disappear completely for me too!

Thanks again!

edit: those 2001FP's are all IPS panels! The two monitors and adapter were 250 bucks total!!! sources ebay, craigslist, monoprice.

This is exactly the same setup I'm putting together, or planning to get together, at least. How does it do in MW2?
