Ok im looking to go with a 3 monitor eyefinity setup looking at ASUS VE245H i can order them thru work for $150 each now my question is i see most eyefinity setups have the monitors standing tall. Well do i have to make a new mount to stamnd these verticaly or can they stay horizontal. If this should be in the monitor section please move i just figured video section because its something to do with my video cards setting.

Out of the box you may be stuck with only landscape (long ways across) as it does not look like the stand that that monitor comes with allows you to pivot it. OP what you can do is get a triple screen monitor arm like the one I got. They are a little pricey but save you alot of desk space and are easy to manage and allign. I can rotate mine from portrait to landscape if I want on the fly.

For this you would remove the stands from the 3 monitors and save desk space.

I'd say order the screens set it up in landscape eyefinity and try it out. There's no real right way with landscape vs portrait, its mostly application/use based and personal preference. If your unhappy with it in landscape look into getting a stand and you can raise them to save desk space or set them up in portrait mode.
A decent stand is gonna cost at least $100 at a retail store on a good sale, they can run more like $150-300 depending on the functionality you need. That's why I got monitors that rotate to portrait mode, but your prob gonna have to pay $200-250 for those, so its most likely going to be slightly more expensive then buying a stand and a bit less flexible with monitor height. I felt it was worth it to spend the extra money for the better monitor than the stand, but I also got them for really cheap.
I'm currently using these. They work well for me in portrait mode for most games/videos, but that's auxiliary uses since the biggest use for me is the large compact work space. I don't like it as well for web browsing though, since I'd traditionally used vertical tabs and had to switch out several of my favorite FF extensions to save horizontal space. Sometimes I rotate one or all of them and setup a landscape eyefinity.

Also, TN panels tend to suck when in portrait mode. Even more so than when they're in landscape, due to their limited viewing angles, the large height of a 24" monitor, and they way they're optimized for landscape use. I think you really should be looking at the much more expensive IPS panels if you want to game in portrait mode.
This is very true (aside from the "even more so than when they're in landscape" part
). I went with TN displays and cannot stand using portrait mode, even though my monitors do rotate to portrait -- the viewing angles are not good. With that said landscape has been great -- can't ever go back to a single screen. I could see RTS games being better in portrait, but landscape is great for shooters, flight sims, rpgs, etc.
