eyefinity problem

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to the forum, and recently got a 3rd monitor for my birthday.

My computer has a Radeon HD 5770. I know that this isn't the best card to be running eyefinity on, but I'm not looking to do any real hardcore gaming.

my issue started out with me being ignorant to the fact that I needed to have one monitor hooked up to the displayport for Eyefinity. So I went out and bought a Displayport to DVI adapter; turns out that one was passive, so I took it back.

I now have an Accell B087B-005B displayport to DVI-D single link active adapter.

when I hook up my 3rd screen. (two already in the DVI ports) my computer gives me this error.

After a little research I found that I would need to update the firmware for the Displayport adapter. I went to the Accell site, found the update for my model and am now currently stuck looking at a screen like this.

I am ultimately frustrated at this point, I don't have any experience with eyefinity, but I am assuming it shouldn't take 5 days to get working.

any help would be much appreciated, and I would be happy to supply any info needed to resolve this issue. I just want to play with my bday present.

edit: bad link

Before you go any further, I would disconnect your other two DVI monitors and try it with just a single display via the adapter. See if it still gives you trouble. If not, add the other two and see what happens.

With the displayport screen only, i get nothing (all screens are black)

add a DVI, the DVI screen comes on, but at a forced 800x600

same story when the other DVI is added, but it dupes the other DVI (still at 800x600)

edit: Remove the display port, the 2 DVIs revert to their "extended desktop" and 1920x1080

That adapter may be defective. I've had two accell DP adapters now and havent had an issue. The first thing I was thinking was that you picked up one that wasn't "AMD Cert" but I saw you did. Might have to get a replacement. The fact that it isnt behaving as it should with ONLY that DP adapted display connected, makes me think its the adapter. Good luck!

Before i got this B087B-005B, i had purchased the B087B-002B for $110. this one also required a firmware update, but i was never able to get in contact with Accell Support to access the download.

the B087B-005B i have now, for $80 less, also requires a firmware update according to the FAQ on the Accell page.

I believe that my issue arises in the fact that when i go to install the firmware through the updater, it cannot "validate" as shown in the linked pictures.

Quoted from the Accell FAQ :

"Question: When using an Accell DisplayPort to DVI Single-Link Adapter PN. B087B-005B or Mini DisplayPort to DVI Single Link Adapter PN. B087B-006B with my AMD graphics card the screen either flashes, blinks or goes blank.

Answer: A firmware update is available which will update the DisplayPort adapter's firmware to version "0X95" and address these symptoms. Right click on instruction manual and select "Save Target As" to save the instruction manual PDF to your hard drive. Right click on firmware updater and select "Save Target As" to save the firmware updater program to your hard drive. Follow the instructions in the manual PDF to update the adapters firmware.
