Eyefinity 6 - how many mini DP adapters?

The newer Eyefinity 6 (E6) cards have 6 mini DP ports (lol redundant?) but they only come with 2 adapters for each type of connection usually found on monitors.

In my case, I am using Dell U2410s and would like to use DP for all of them.

Before I make my purchase, do I need the less expensive (pass-thru only) adapters or do I need to obtain the more expensive active adapters?

Some of the online photos show the E6 cards with 6 passive mini-DP to DP connectors. This would lead me to believe that I need up to 4 more passive mini-DP to DP adapters.

Is anyone else looking into this or have already configured to 6 mini-DP to DP?
 
For DP you only need the regular Mini-DP to DP adapters I believe. But for DVI you would still need the Active DP to DVI adapter. If I am not mistaken you could use 2 regular DP to DVI but anymore than that requires active.
