Can someone pass on some info on E2 and if it supports Portrait+Landscape+Portrait resolution of 1200x1600+2560x1600+1200x1600?

I can only assume that is does not, but I just cant find a reliable reference to it.

Has there actually been a conclusive post somewhere recently that PLP is NOT being added in eyefinity 2.0? Not that I'm expecting it, but just hadn't seen it anywhere dismissed entirely.

Yea, not that there's a million of us, but PLP really is an ideal setup for an all-around system, so the first camp to pull it off will get at least a decent handful of buys for that alone.

No, PLP wont work.
its either landscape or portrait.
However more adjustment and custom resolutions will be there.,

Yes, I saw those slides, but like many, I dont want to see what it is there ;) or maybe I dont want to see what it is not there...

Man, I just cant believe that some dude (softth) can do PLP from his basement fairly well, and AMD and NVidia will not, or cannot.

If $100 cards do not support it, I can understand. But we are talking about $500+ here. I guess the PLP crowd is just way too small. :(

I'm not seeing where you get the bold "no" from that source.

I agree.
What we know for sure is that non constant vertical resolutions setup will not be supported.

it'll be pretty easy to fix imo if it doesnt support plp

edit edid info to say 1200x1600 instead

and work magic to make pixels rotate 90 degrees

and then you add it into the group

done.

I hope [H] can test this or give some kind of definite info on it so I can make a decision on the 7970.

Unless it's hardware specific, it shouldn't matter which card you have. When AMD releases the driver, we should get some confirmation.

Well, even if its not officially put in, I have to think that with the more robust support for custom res's, we're at least closer to someone finding a backdoor to get it working. Maybe modding the infs for the portrait screens to trick CCC into using them?

While I personally will admit I have no idea how to do this, it just seems like we should be on the cusp to finally getting this, and I'd happily support anyone who was able to get a true, working solution.

This 7970 had alot of promise..

But between all the driver issues people are having (eg DCS A-10 and Blackshark2 don't work), plus no support for my PLP monitors it's starting to look a bit sad :(

Might have to wait for GTX 680 and keep running in SoftTH :(

Man I really want PLP to work. I already have the monitors for it :(. I played some dirt 2 and just cause spaned across them and it was sooo nice. Since those are 2 of the games that will let you play in windowed mode across all 3 monitors in the correct apect. PLP is the perfect setup it's not to wide. They really need to get on the ball with this.

I used the preview drivers and all the custom resolution was two or three different resolutions but the same aspect ratio.

I expect PLP to NEVER be added to Eyefinity, at least no time soon....as in years.

its geometrically a problem...

since the game reso controls the total reso, unless games support separate resos on multi mon, its gonna be a problem...

There are a few games that do PLP fine in windowed mode. I don't know why it should be that much harder to do it in Full screen mode. I have played Dirt 2 just fine in windowed mode with no issues in PLP. If they don't work this out soon I think i'm just going to sell my dell 30 and get a 120hz 27inch.
