Hi everyone new to the forum hopefully no one has posted similar message, I did search through forums before making my post. I am looking for a working external M.2 to USB enclosure that will work with my Samsung M.2 MZHPU256HCGL-00004 SSD. I believe this M.2 SSD needs a PCIe M-Key edge slot and for the life of me I cannot find anything on the web that seems to support M-Key type M.2 drives. If anyone has a similar type M.2 SSD and found an external enclosure that works with it please provide me a link and hopefully I can mkae use of this spare SSD.

I only know of SATA ones. Not sure if NVMe drives work in SATA ones.

I would be surprised if one doesn't exist by now.

I would get a USB 3.1/Type C one if they exist.

Sorry i am of no further help. Last i looked was about a year ago.

Not sure where you from but you tried amazon?
 
I think the problem may arise from the fact that the M Key is used for PCI-E 4x when B Key's PCI-E 2x is insufficient. Neither SATA Express nor USB 3.1 can get anywhere near that speed.

It may help others looking into this to know that the OP's SSD is better known as the Samsung XP941.

Furthermore, the "B & M key" only operates with 2x lanes.

my M.2 SSD connector isthe same as the left picture which is labelled M-key but looking at the picture you provided
surely this M-key SSD only fits in the "B key" edge connector unless you place it in upside down (chip side down).
Hope you understand what I'm trying to say wish these NGFF M.2 SSD had single standard :)

no joke...like wtf.... Already turning into USB? /sarc
 
Slot the M.2 into a 2.5" SATA adaptor and then slot that into a decent USB3.0 caddy.
