Well, I can't be sure whether or not this is a HD issue, a mobo issue, or just a software one, but I figure I'll post here since it's certainly a file issue.
I have one 74gb Raptor and a seperate 300gb WD drive, each connected to the DFI nf4 Ultra-D mobo via SATA ports 3 and 4, respectively.
As for the issue, well, how to explain it. It's happened twice now, at approximately 2-3 month intervals on seperate drives.
First, on the 300gb drive. One of my folders, seemingly a random one, suddenly cloned itself 10+ times, and put itself inside itself. What I mean is, instead of, say C:\Data\(files here), it turned into C:\Data\Data\Data\Data\Data\Data\Data\Data\(files buried somewhere down here). It was only a weird bug at this point, but annoying nonetheless, since it wouldn't let me delete the files buried there... or so I thought. It ends up that all I had to do was move the buried files somewhere else, delete all of the folders, and the files themselves, if I wanted...
However, now, it's happened again. My video playback suddenly ceased to work, causing me no small amount of confusion. I tried resetting my codecs and whatnot, only to have them not found. I checked the directory (this time on the Raptor), and ... you guessed it, my codecs were buried 10 directories down. Once again, I moved them to another folder, deleted the clone folders, and put them back where they belong, and everything is back to normal.
Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on? Both times, no data was corrupted. Everything still works, codec wise, and those other files from the first time still worked until I deleted them... It seems so random and downright... odd.
