I noticed the other day that my loading times greatly increased in length. Windows went from taking about thirty seconds to five minutes. It takes 10 minutes to join a Battlefield 2 game instead of about 1 minute. Needless to say, I find this rather distressing. I ran a program called "HD Tach" and the "Average Read" came back as 3.5 MB/sec. I compared this to the example figures in the program which state that a 36 GB Raptor drive should be around 50 MB/sec. I've done the obvious things I can think of. Scan disk. Nothing. Spyware. Nothing. Anti-virus. Nothing. Starting up in safe mode is faster, but I don't have enough experience with safe mode to know if it's faster because the problem isn't occuring or Windows is just loading so few things.
You can view the program's output here.
Basically, anyone have any ideas?
Windows XP Pro SP2, Pentium 4 2.4, 512 MB, Abit IC7.
