Extreme WC fluids

Here is what I have thought of

Kool-aid
bawls
various sodas
blood
air

Give me pros/cons of all these and if you have more fun ideas fire away.

Another that probably would be better off in the WC forum.

But lets see:

Soda/any carbonated beverage/Kool-Aid: not a good idea. Water bubbles in the cooling loop is a bad thing, we watercoolers spend a great deal of time trying to get any air bubbles out of our systems, not to mention the added pressure created by the carbonation would probably be VERY bad.

Not to mention that most soda/etc are sugar water. The last thing you'd want would be to have the sugar carmelize in the waterblock or turn to syrup.

Blood: What's the percieved advantage of that? First of all the average watercooling block is about a liter of fluid. Where are you getting that much blood? Not to mention I'm not sure of the viscocity of blood but it seems like it would be "thicker than water" which would not be good and I can't imagine the thermal properties of it would be that great.

Of course, you'll also have the problem of clotting. (edit: although that might be good to stop any leaks)

Air: Hey, there's an idea... why didn't someone think of that before. I bet if you strapped a fan to a large piece of copper or aluminum with vanes cut into it that would work pretty well.

WOW

Where can i get one of those ? :p

lol, abviosly u wont get any better temps w/ any of these, but thats not the point heh. blood: this would be the [h]ardest thing ive seen in watercooling. first off, i think its tight cause it like u know, a human fluid , (lol no shit)but also cause it kindof like a vein of ur pc, like its alive heh. problem is, ud have to steal a stash of donated blood. using your own would be tight, but isnt that like way to much blood? u could goto donate blood, and tell em u want to take the blood when they finished? worst case scenario u use animal blood? kinda groos but still a cool concept.

Please warn the newbies that this is a "do not try this at home" sort of thing.

My personal vote would be for cement. No really! Walk outside barefoot in the summer, that stuff can absorb a lot of heat! It would just be great for WC! I just can't decide if it would be better in a closed loop or with a resivour... :D

I think carloboy means beer or whiskey, and Im pretty sure someone has done it. Alcohol (as in rubbing alcohol/other high % sources, not beer/whiskey/vodka/etc.) works well in chiller setups for its low freezing point, in case anyone was curious.

Well just add anti-coagulant like EDTA and you are all set. Also, instead of human blood, get cow blood. Go to a butcher shop with a container and enough EDTA, drop the blood in and you are all set. However, be careful that other people don't know this as I am sure it is illegal somewhere (using that much blood).

But wouldn't it be cool when you woke up the next morning and looked in the mirror to see that you had silver skin!! You chould be one of those street robot performers and not have to put on any makeup. (For those that dont know silver can cause a condition where it gets under your skin and permanently changes your skin color, I forget the proper name)

i wonder what the chances are that you WILL wake up in the morning..

isnt liquid silver mercury? hence its poison, which will kill you not just leave you with silver skin.

even if its "liquid" i think its still as heavy or close to their solid brethren. You'll need one hell of a pump with all that density plus a thick, heavy gauge pipes to support that weight.

Well, silver nitrate leaves you with a rusty-brown coloured skin, so are you sure that liquid silver would give you silver skin? I have the distinct feeling that it wouldnt.

No, mercury is an entirely different element. They are virtually unrelated, apart from their visual appearance in a liquid form (solid form as well, i imagine, although I dont know this).

this reminds me of something id hear in a conversation between middle school kids.

urine is a human fluid too....use that.

Yeah, this is my pc, it's cooled by MY OWN BLOOD! I am the reservoir!!

Why are you all backing away?
