alright my computer is running real hot (75c), so hot it shuts its self of, and its been taking me a while to figure out what was doing it.

Im wondering how i could cool this puppy down. When i put it together im pretty sure i put the thermal paste one correctly, but i may not have so any link that shows pictures and gives some good steps would help to make sure i did it right. Otherwise any other helpful answers.

Heres what im running
Nvidia nforce 3 ultra k8n neo2 platinum
amd 64 3500+ 939
1gb geil value ram
evga nivida 6800gt
antec superlanboy with stock case fans
and just a heat sink on the cpu
and just a heat sink on the cpu

oh...and one more thing......PUT A FAN ON YOUR HEATSINK!!

You need a fan on there. A quiet fan would work, but you need something to move the air over the fins of that HS
 
yeah man you need a fan on that HS bad, you cant just passivly cool high end chips anymore, as sad as that is :(
 
well it was my hope that the front fan on the the case was going to pull cool air in the over the psu and then the fan in the back was going to pull it out

All cpus being released these days need active cooling directly onto them, which means an HSF and a fan, no exceptions unless you have tornados as your case fans.
 
wow you didnt put a Fan on the heatsink and you expect good temps? Thats a good heatsink, add a decent fan and you'll see cooler temps
 
the stock 120mm fan in the superlan boy moves like 28cfm. nice and quiet though. get yoursef a fan on there, and your problem will be solved.
