I've found that a few PC games do not like the mouse and keyboard, but allegedly do better with a controller. Specifically, the game in question is Darksiders, but I'd like to have options should this problem rise again in the future.

I have both an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3, so a controller based on either will work fine for me. I thought that I could use the 360 controller with the charge n play kit, but the Google revealed this wasn't happening.

The question is just which one, because I haven't purchased a new controller in a while.

I've considered the Razer Onza Professional because it's been on sale at Best Buy and I have a Reward Zone $5 off which would bring it down to about $26 IF they have it in stock. The wired 360 controller would be good too, but I'm feeling kinda cheap. I haven't checked into any PS3-style controllers, but I'm open to them.

I would assume that any controller with a USB would do the job, but I'd rather ask before.

Yes, buying Darksiders would be cheaper, but I'd rather not re-purchase a game I already own.

Any advice is appreciated.
 
Xbox is the better bet as some games are setup with it in mind.

To use the PS3 on PC you need a Bluetooth module and drivers. For Xbox 360 controller you need a Wireless receiver. A genuine wired X360 controller will work no problem

NOTE a real wireless adapter for X360 says Microsoft and not XBOX 360. I've heard as long as you get the drivers they work the same.

Who cares. I have non marked knock off ps3 controllers that work better than Sony's 50 dollar ones and I paid 20 bucks. BTW I went thru 3 of those official USB ones they short out easy but the aftermarket ones I have outlasted them all!

Just customer awareness about genuine. For the price I wouldn't care though.

Hope you didn't toss those official ones. They have a anemic fuse that goes out and can be replaced.
 
the only thing bad about microsoft controller is the dpad. So some games like Mortal Kombat Arcade trilogy, can be aggravating with it. I have yet to use the new ones with "fixed" dpad. other than that, go for ms.

The newer controller with the rotating pad works well with older mk games.
