Extra pipelines cause artifacts...options?

I just installed a new Geforce 6800. I've used rivatuner to unlock the extra pipelines. So, I'm now running 16x6. However, I've got artifacts now. I can run at 12x6 ok though.

Anyway, am I hosed? I read somewhere that a little overvolt might help. This sounds fishy to me. And, if I did want to overvolt, can anyone point me to an decent online how-to?

Vmod usualy fixes the artifact thingy, tho I don't know if it helps with broken pipes..
 
Thats the same thing mine does, I can run 12x6, but not 16x6. When I had it set to 16x6, the textures became speckled when looked at up close and the water in far cry didn't look right. So I just run mine at 12x6.
 
Maybe the reason the card comes at 12x1 is because it was intended to run at 12x1? Just maybe those pipes are disabled for a reason?
 
Volt modding a 6800 usually will not take care of artifacting when extra pixel pielines are enabled. It will allow for a more stable/higher OC. If it runs well at 12-6 then be happy, others are still stuck with 12-5.

Oh yeah, definitely, but getting the extra pipes for free is fun. Well relatively free anyway.
 
Yeah, I can be happy with 12x6...I understand that it's not supposed to work that way, but hey, it's worth a try. Let's face it, if I can soft mod it to perform like a card that costs twice as much, why wouldn't I? But, no I don't EXPECT it to work. We all like to tweak right?

Anyhow, does anyone have a good place to start for an over volt mod? I thought I'd see what kind of OC i can get out of this thing now that the pipeline issue seems dead.

To overvolt, try downloading a prog like Nibitor to edit your BIOS. This will let you raise your GPU voltage, but will of course void your warranty.
