Building a budget HTPC for a buddy.. figured out after I got it built it's only USB 2.0. Will he be able to play 10 or 20gb MKV files over USB 2.0 without it buffering?

I have no problem with this on my linux based HTPC.

Thanks! Just got confirmation from another friend who said all his media is on USB 2.0 externals and he has no issues either.. hopefully the i3-2100 has enough video power for smooth 1080p playback.

USB2.0 reads should be 20-30MB/s range. That and an i3 will be plenty for 1080p playback.
