External Thunderbolt GPU -- not bad

Hasn't this been done before? I remember a product very much like it, maybe made by asus. IIRC it either made no splash or was never actually released though.

Oh and I definitely don't see external GPUs as the future of PC gaming. Maybe the future of mobile pc gaming.

Edit: it was the Asus XG. Apparently it was released, but with an 8600gt....
 
Someone here on the forum made one and used a 5850 iirc. Badass little add-on for his laptop.
 
Getting around the power limitations shouldn't be too hard, huh? Couldn't you just jump a power supply's turn on leads?
