External or Internal Rad Setup?

Hello everyone,

I am looking at setting up a new system and would like to make it water cooled. This PC itself will be pretty much stationary.

My rad of choice is currently a Thermochill PA 120.3. So I am wondering, am better off getting a case that has been modded to allow a Rad to be attached either on top or inside the machine? Or should I simply use an external setup with a Swiftech MCB-120?

It seems that companies charge a premium for pre-modded cases.

Also, clearpc.ca has modded cases for fairly decent prices, but I do not know if I want to go the acrylic route yet. If someone knows a place that provides these setups for cheap that would be great info too.

Given the price, right now the MCB-120 seems like the best route to go. Also, I would guess that the external setup performs better but I could be wrong.
 
I went the way of the Clear PC. It took two months for them to get me my case. And when I got it, none of the radiator screw holes lined up. So now I have a $308 case sitting here on the floor empty.
 
Ouch, that sucks. I just spoke to them and gave them the schematic for the Thermochill. They said no problem.

What case and rad did you have problems with?

If you were to do it again, what would you have done?

when you have the Radiator they recommend and the screw holes don't line up, I do believe it's their fault.

I'd drill the proper holes myself, but the case is pretty much one piece of acrylic, and if I screw up, there goes the whole case.
 
I have noticed many small but efficient external cooling boxes are pretty good. Corsair Nautilus, Koolance EXOS, etc. With a little over engineering, a home made external cooling box would outperform any kits or pre assembled products. I found a 12" x 18" HVAC radiator that I'll put inside a box that will sit under my PC case. The cooler will be self contained and my PC case will be free from pump radiator clutter! I hope to have this built by Christmas. :)
 
i always prefer external. Easier to drain, work on, less clutter inside to PC. Built a custom stand so its easy to move, storage inside....

to my external is always better.
