OK, I have just added a GPU cooler to my loop.

I use the Nautilus and have a Q6600 cooled and now an 8800GTX.
I fired up the comp last night and the CPU is at least 10C higher than when it was all by itself in the loop.

I think for my use I'm going to need a larger cooler. My case cant handle the space needed for an internal set-up.

What should I consider that is beefier than the Nautilus???? Would an Exos be worth it???

Any suggestions are welcome.
 
I suggest you take the custom kit path since Koolance Exos and Corsair Nautilus is crap unless used on very simple setups. Petra's sell a few of those kits so take a look at this page : http://www.petrastechshop.com/wacoki.html

To run a CPU and a GPU, you are looking at a 2x120 radiator at a minimum.

 
I'm not quite sure the Nautilus is "crap"......it cooled my Q6600 very well.

I'm not under the illusion that it has the beef to cool my GPU and OC'd CPU as well as a dual radiator system.......I just dont have room in my case for a pump and res.......I was wondering if anybody had experience with the Exos enough to comment.
 
The Q6600 at your speed dissipate about 130-150w of heat. The Nautilus seems to be able to dissipate up to 150w and that's why you got great results.

Adding a GPU in the mix is more than doubling the heat output since the GTX dissipate over 175w. That's why it is not a good idea and even the Exos is borderline. Another reason to recommend against the Exos is aluminium radiator because there is a corrosion issue and it will leak after a while.

Just look at the kits I linked or pick a Swiftech H20-220 kit.

also, the Nautilus can be upgraded to a larger (thicker) dual pass rad and stronger fan very easily..

Thanks alot.....thats great reading and a neat find.
But, after some research......and measurement.....I'm probably going to get a Swiftech dual 120 Rad with Res, and a MCP 350 pump......the 350 puts out at least the GPM that the Nautilus does and is wickedly small......I think it will work just fine and give me a greater cooling capacity than the Nautilus can......great find with the article though, thanks.
 
Plus with five minutes and some solder, you can upgrade that 9w DDC 3.1/MCP350 to a 18w DDC 3.2/MCP355 if you need the extra flow and pressure.

There's no difference internally between the 350 and 355 now, other than a soldered lead that sets what voltage it runs at.

And I'd seriously look into a new CPU block, one that's designed with a C2Q in mind, like the D-Tek Fuzion, or Apogee GTX.
 
I replaced the Nautilus block with an Apogee GTX the day I got it.

I did some testing last night and the ol' Nautilus held its own well in gaming.
It kept my CPU at 45C and my GPU at 57C......temps recorded with CoreTemp and RivaTuner......
I'm pretty impressed.
I may not replace it after all.:D
 
Just goes to show you don't have to buy "the same old configuration" preached here to get good results. ;)
 
I am currently using the Koolance Exos 2 with the 310 CPU block and 280 vid cooler and am VERY PLEASED with the system. It works very well and I have had no problems with it, I highly recomend it.
