Hello all, I'm wondering if someone can help me solve my problem. I recently replaced my 100GB WD HDD with a 500GB Maxtor. The 100GB was my main drive with windows xp on it, so I cloned it to the 500GB and now the 500GB is my main drive and I want to use the 100GB as an external (I already have several other internal drives, so this one has to go external). I bought an external enclosure (RocketFish brand from BB), put the 100GB drive in it (it still had windows and everything on it) and plugged in the power and then the USB cable (like the instructions said). Well, windows recognized it as a USB mass storage device, and started installing the driver for it. Then the bubble popped up saying that the hardware was not installed properly, blah blah blah. I looked in My Computer, the drive wasn't there. I looked in Disk Management, the drive wasn't there. I thought there might be a conflict with it since it still had windows installed on it, so I threw it in my case as an internal drive and formatted it in windows disk management (NTFS). I put it back in the external enclosure, and now the same thing is still happening. Windows says it found a USB mass storage device, but then it says that the driver wasn't installer properly. It's still not recognized in My Computer or Disk Management. I've tried uninstalling the USB driver and reinstalling it via Device Manager, but I still get nowhere. Can anyone help me out here? It would be greatly appreciated!
