Well I have two hardrives a Operating drive 34.4 gbs with 16.0 gbs left

Also I have a 120 gb HD with 90 gbs left.

I really want an external hardrive so I can store games, music from my cds , files etc so I can swap it back and fourth from computers....

I am thinking 80 gb would be enough... I am also wondering if I could partition it for mandrake linux?

Well what Im mainly wondering since I have two hardrives already could I have a 3rd?

Also one last question can I have a 3rd interanl hardrive also?

Thanks, I know that might be choppy since Im a fast thinker so try your best lol
:p

youd likely be able to have as many internal HDDs as you can shoehorn in the case

but generally speaking, there are 2 IDE channels that will support two devices each
opticals and HDDs

if there are RAID channels they maybe able to support HDDs not in a RAID array
there are cheap PCI IDE Controller cards (with various number of channels)
SATA ports on board and cards
and then there is SCSI, which will support up to 15 drives per channel (or more)

external HDDs have issues quite often
they are more exposed to damage and abuse
the throughput isnt as good as internals typically do the the implementation of USB or Firewire, the specs as given when selling them are deceptive

these computers are in different physical locations?

Well the second comp I have is an old P||| 933 mhz with windows xp

OK is it across the room or across town?
If its nearby, gigabyte network interface cards are relatively cheap and have the same throughput as the ATA100 cables the HDDs use internally, youd simply network them together, if they are the only computers on that LAN you wouldnt even need a router or switch, just 2 cards and a cable

I bought an external drive, then when I go to work on someone's computer, I can bring all my utils with on disk along with updates, beats cdr's, I keep loosing them:eek:

I have an 80 gig wd external drive, usb 2.0, it is pretty quick.

keep losing them, what do you mean lol I dont want a hardrive where it gets lost data lol
