Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows how to solve the problem.

When i connect my maxtor external hard drive to my pc (running in windows xp pro), it recognises that there is usb mass but it doesnt display it anywhere. When i connect the external hard drive to my laptop it works normally without any problem and have also tested in other peoples pc which all seem to work apart from my pc.

i have tried
1. Updating BIOS.
2. Disconnecting and uninstalling devices
3. Try other cables.
4. Try other ports.
5. Various service packs

the only result i have got is if install windows home then it works but i wont it to work in pro


Any help much appreciated
 
If you plug in any other external device (USB thumb drive, different ext hard drive, etc) does it show up properly, or do you get an exclamation mark next to USB Mass Storage in device manager? Do you have TweakUI installed? Make sure you have the drive letters setup to be shown inside TweakUI... just tossin ideas
