external hard drive question

Depends on your imaging/backup software. Probably any USB drive will do, that has enough space to hold the image (compressed?).
 
Yep another hdd, internal or external, would be the way to go. I'd go internal and save some money if there is no need for portability.
 
well my hard drive is 160, and i so far filled over 86 gigs of crap, i was just wondering cuase theres so many brands out there, that are at a ridiculous price!
 
how about which brand should i go for, which is going to be more reliable later on in the future
 
you can buy an internal hard drive and then just buy an external enclosure. I bought an IDE enclosure for around $30 a couple years ago. I can also use that enclosure for optical drives.
I think that might be cheaper...

How many different answers do you want :) You will likely hear a different one depending on who you ask. I've seen every manufacturers drives bite the dust. I'd say you cant go wrong with seagate but no doubt someone who has lost 2 or 3 in a row and sworn them off would suggest otherwise.
